Access to the starting point:
Cross the Border crossing Ljubelj into Austria, and after a few kilometres turn left towards the Poden / Bodental valley. After a few more climbs, you reach Slovenji Plajberk / Windisch Bleiberg, where you park in the parking lot under the church.
Path description:
From the parking lot under the church, continue straight ahead and quickly reach Gasthaus Kirchenwirt, where a marked trail to Singerberg / Singerberg branches off to the right at the inn. Continue along the narrower, initially asphalted road beside the guesthouse. At the crossroads follow the signs for Singerberg and quickly reach a hamlet of a few houses, where you go slightly left and cross a small stream. There is a short climb up the road again, and from the road go right in the route we are already familiar with, passing through a viewpoint into the woods. We climb through the forest and quickly reach a marked crossroads, and we take a slightly longer route via the Albink / Halbingsattel saddle.
A steeper climb follows, and as we climb over a nearby cliff, a fine view of Karawanks opens up from the edge of the cliff, where the path turns left and crosses a small stream a little higher up.
Before crossing the stream, the entrance to the former lead mine can be seen on the left, and the path climbs steeply for some time after the stream. Higher up, you cross a forest road, which you leave soon after a left serpentine, and then cross it a few more times or stay on it for a short time. After a while, we pass a mighty larch tree, and after it we leave the forest on a viewing slope, from which we have a magnificent view of the central Karawanks with the highest Stol. Here the path turns right into the forest and joins the road, which you follow to the left, quickly reaching the Albink saddle, where there is a marked crossroads.
Continue along the road to the right in the direction of Singerberg (to the left is the road that leads to Rabenberg, and slightly to the left is the road that descends to the Vranjica saddle / Orienzasattel), which begins to climb crosswise to the left and during the ascent opens up a fine view to the north. When you reach the Singerberg ridge again, you reach a nice lookout point where there is a large cross and a signing-in box with a signing-in book.
After the cross, there is a slight descent, and after the parachute landing site, the road starts to climb again and splits at the edge of the forest.
Continue on the marked slightly left road, which leads us through the lane of a forest to a scenic ridge again, and when we return to the forest we soon reach a crossroads where the direct route from Slovenj Plajberk joins us from the right. Continue left into the forest on a marked footpath which climbs to 1556. From this corner there is some downhill, and when you reach the road, go straight ahead, further east. Here the road passes onto the southern slopes of the mountain, and we leave it at the part where the marked path turns slightly left off it. We follow the ridge path, taking in the occasional view, all the way to the cross at the top of Žingarica.
Slovenji Plajberk - Albink 1:20, Albink - Singerberg 1:00.
