Access to the starting point:
Access from Gorenjska: Drive through the Karavanke Tunnel into Austria, then continue to Spittal and on to Lienz (the motorway ends a little after Spittal). We continue along a relatively nice and wide road through the Drava Valley, which leads us into Itali. The road continues past Dobbiaco/Toblach and Brunico/Bruneck. Just after the last-mentioned town, which is passed by a bypass road, we turn left into the Val Badia valley. Continue along the valley past La Vila and Corvara. Then climb over the Passo Campolongo and Passo Pordoi. From Passo Pordoi, descend to the west side of the valley of Val di Fassa. Continue to Pera di Fassa where you park in the large parking lot at the bottom station of the chairlift "Pera Vajolet 1".
From here, a minibus transfer is organised to the Rifugio Gardeccia hut. The return ticket costs 10€ (July 2015). The minibus starts at 07:00 and the last ride from the Gardeccia hut is at 19:00. The road to the hut is closed to public transport.
From the coastal side. At Portogruaro, leave the motorway towards Venice and turn right on the motorway towards Pordenone. At the next motorway junction near Conegliano, turn right towards Belluno. Follow the motorway until you reach the exit for Belluno. When you leave the motorway, you come to a large roundabout, which you leave at the exit for Belluno and Feltre. At the small roundabout in Belluno, turn right towards Agordo. Follow this road until Moena in the Val di Fassa. In Moena, turn right towards Canazei, but only as far as Pera di Fassa, where you park in the large parking lot at the bottom station of the chairlift "Pera Vajolet 1".

Path description:
From the Rifugio Gardeccia, follow the dirt road towards the Vajolet hut. The road first leads past the Rifugio Stella Alpina hut and into a rare forest. Here the road climbs a little, but the sparse forest quickly ends and we can see the view towards hut Rifugio Preuss, which is clearly visible on the top of the cliff. Cottage Rifugio Vajolet is located next to the cottage. The scenic road then becomes flatter for a while, then turns left under the slopes of the summit of Cima Catinaccio and starts to climb a little more steeply. The road then climbs up to hut Rifugio Vajolet from where there is a very fine view of the Torri del Vajolet towers.
Just after the hut, the Sentiero Don Guido trail branches off to the right towards the top of Cima Scalieret, and we continue along a fairly wide path towards the Rifugio Passo Principe hut. The path then soon leads to another marked crossroads. This time, the path branches off to the left up towards Rifugio Re Alberto and Rifugio Passo Santner. We continue along the rather sloping route 584 towards the Rifugio Passo Principe hut. The path here runs northwards along the Val di Vajolet and the view towards the highest peak in the Catinaccio d'Antermoia mountain group (Kesselkogel) starts to get better and better. At the end of the valley the slope becomes a shade steeper, but the climb is not difficult. Following a wide path, you soon reach the Passo Principe hut, located on the saddle of the same name on the western side of the Catinaccio d'Antermoia.
From the hut, follow the signs "585 Kesslkogel". From the hut where the crossroads are, the path climbs along the scree towards the western wall of the mountain. On the scree, the path is marked with large red arrows. As we approach the wall the path turns left and leads us along a ledge where there is a fairly low passage. The path then turns to the right and climbs steeply up the ravine. The path is not yet protected so a little more caution is needed. The path then soon leads us to the beginning of the protected part. Here we climb gently for a while on a ledge on the south side of the mountain. In between, we also descend a short ladder. The path then turns left and starts to climb a little steeper along the steel cable. Higher up, the path leads us to the west side of the mountain where we cross the slope on a ledge. There may be snow on the trail in early summer. The shelf then becomes a gully along which we climb for some time. Further on, the trail mostly climbs along the steel cable, but the ascent is not too difficult and is comparable to the protected trails in the Slovenian mountains. In the last part, the trail leads us to a ridge along which we soon reach the summit. When walking along the ridge, a little more caution is needed as the ridge in the last part is not protected.
You can either descend via the ascent route or continue along the sheltered path to the east side and then return to the Passo Principe hut via the Passo di Antermoia saddle.

Discussion about the trail Rifugio Gardeccia - Catinaccio d'Antermoia / Kesselkogel

Čao ! Včeraj smo opravili vzpon na to lepo goro v osrčju Dolomitov. V petek popoldne smo se odpravili od doma in v kraju Pera di fassa se je treba peljati po glavni cesti še malce naprej od na desno spodaj ležeče postaje žičnice dokler ne opazimo na svoji levi strani majhno tablo via Gardeccia ter po tej cesti se po nekaj kilometrih ustavimo na koncu zaselka Muncion, kjer parkiramo ob cesti. Naprej peš po dolgočasni asfaltirani  cesti do koče Gardeccia že v temi prispemo v kočo. Prijetna velika koča ponuja dvoposteljne sobe za 40 eur po osebi z bogatim zajtrkom ( brez zajtrka 36 eur).Popust z izkaznico z A članirono žal ne velja Zjutraj po zajtrku se v prekrasnem dnevu odpravimo naprej mimo koče Vajolet ter višje prispemo do zadnje koče pred vzponom na vrh, Rifugo Passo Principe, ki slikovito leži v skalah. Čeprav smo imeli z seboj tudi pasove, mislim da za malce bolj izurjene planince niso potrebni, odvisno od posameznika, čeprav jih domorodci skoraj vsi uporabljajo. Da si boste lažje predstavljali tako vzpon kot sestop po drugi strani je težavnost lahko primerljiva z našo zavarovano potjo npr. od Češke koče na Kočni. Torej po levi poti na vrh krasna na novo lepo opremljena ferata, tik pred vrhom ozek grebenček, na vrhu pa enkratni, čudoviti razgledi.  Sestop nadaljujemo naprej od začetka še krajši del po vršnem grebenu nato pa se zavarovana pot strmo spusti navzdol, ta del je na momente bolj zračen kot vzpon, a tehnična zahtevnost ne prekaša zahtevnosti pri vzponu. Ko prispemo skoraj do dna se pot odcepi ostro desno in žal se moramo še dobrih dvajset minut po melišču povzpeti na sedlo Antermonia, od tam pa ponovno spustiti do koče Passo Principe. Od tam nazaj mimo koče Vajolet, kjer naredimo še en krasen počitek v enkratnem okolju, navzdol do Gardeccie ter žal ( drugače se ne da ) po asfaltu do avta. Prvi dan smo porabili dobro uro hoje, drugi dan pa s počitki vred dobrih 8 ur. Poskusite , ne bo vam žal, koč v tem koncu je veliko, včeraj so bile še vse odprte za prenočevanje, do kdaj bodo, se nisem pozanimal, inf. najdete na internetu. Če bi šli še enkrat da bolje razporediš hojo, bi raje prespali v koči Vajolet ali pa celo v Passo Principe,če pa ima kdo še kakšno vprašanje, bom z veseljem odgovoril.

Minibus od spodnje postaje sedežnice (kot piše v opisu dostopa do izhodišča) že nekaj let več ne vozi. Namesto tega prevoza lahko kupimo karto za sedežnico do druge postaje (povratna vozovnica za odraslega stane 13 Eur). Zadnja vožnja v dolino je ob 18 uri. Od druge postaje sedežnice do koče Gardeccia je še 40 minut hoje po široki in zložni poti.
