Access to the starting point:
First, drive to Železniki, where the sign for Prtovč directs you to a side road. After a few kilometres of driving, the road leads to a crossroads where you turn left towards Ratitovec and the village of Prtovč. The road then leads to the church in the village, where there is a parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue up the asphalted road. After a few metres walk, you will reach a crossroads where the road to the hunting lodge branches off to the right. Continue left to the next crossroads where there are signposts. Take the road to the right in the direction of Ratitovec via Razor (Ratitovec via Povden on the left). The road leads past the last houses in the village to where the road ends.
Continue along cart track, which starts to climb through the forest. After walking for about 15 minutes, the footpath leaves the cart track a couple of times but climbs close to it. A little higher up, cross a forest road and follow the wide cart track. At the point where the path from the hunting lodge joins, cart track becomes a footpath. After a short crossing of a slightly steeper slope, the path leads us to a valley (krnico) called Razor. The forest is becoming thinner and thinner, so on the right-hand side we can see some of the cliffs of Kosmatý vrh (Hairy Peak). After a short climb, the path leads us to a small plain where there is a crossroads.
Here we turn right in the direction of mountain pasture Klom (to the left Krek's cottage at Ratitovec). The path climbs steeply for a short time and leads us over a grazing fence (an electric shepherd) to a poorly visible crossroads where the path to Kosmati vrh branches off to the right. Continue straight along the clearly visible path, which leads us only a few steps further to the next more visible crossroads at the saddle of Vratca.
Here, continue sharp left (straight mountain pasture Pečana, right mountain pasture Klom) along the path, which quickly leads us to the edge of the lookout ridge. This moderately steep path then leads us to Gladki vrh (1667m) from which we descend in a few minutes to the mountain home at Ratitovec.

Na Ratitovcu sem bil v svojem življenju že blizu 700-krat. Vedno je bilo lepo pa kakor koli je že bilo. Za noben vzpon nanj mi ni bilo žal, ker ima Ratitovec po mojem mnenju enega izmed najlepših razgledov z vrhov slovenskih planin. Koča je vzorna, ljudje, ki vodijo planinsko društvo in upravljajo kočo so super fantje in dekleta.
Zaradi navedenega in bližine Ljubljane, je Ratitovec preveč oblegan in procesije planincev ob sončnih vikendih so ev. lahko moteči. Vsem priporočam to planinsko pravljico.

Se strinjam res je lepo pa dobro potico in flancate imajo.

Se strinjam , gneči se izogneš , če se zgodaj odpraviš od doma.
Flancate pa verjetno že ponoči napečejo.

Danes sem se s Prtovča odpravil čez Razor na Vratca in nato na Gladki vrh. Začetnih 200 m poti je zelo drselo (kamenje, pot pomrznjena), tako da niso odveč male dereze, potem pa je lepo shojena pot. Nad lovsko kočo je sprožen manjši gozdni plaz, kjer je potrebno malce več previdnosti, težav pa pri prečenju ni. Na Razoru sem zavil v desno na sedlo Vratca in pot nadaljeval na Gladki vrh, od koder sem sestopil do Krekove koče in nato čez Razor nazaj na Prtovč. Na vrhu je kar dobro vleklo, zaradi česar je sneg spihan do zmrznjene podlage, tako da kar dobro drsi. Sestop je bil ekspresen, saj se skoraj ne vdira. LP Andrej

se pravi, je tale pot tudi v razmerah, kakršne so zdaj, primerna za takšne bolj laične planinke (z derezami in gamašami seveda ?

Mene pa zanima kakšna je cesta do Prtovča. Ali je zasnežena, a greš lahko brez verig z avtom?

Pot je odlično zgažena, vendar je snega kar veliko. Pri sestopu sem videl kar nekaj gornikov, kateri so za vzpon uporabljali dereze, tako da...Stvar posameznika, vsekakor jih imej s seboj, saj so razmere zimske.
Pot do Prtovča je bila v nedeljo lepo prevozna z zimskimi gumami, če pa je v tem času padlo kaj snega pa ne vem. LP Andrej
