Parking at botanical garden - Mali Rajinac (by road)

Access to the starting point:
From the Zagreb - Split motorway, take the Otočac exit. Follow the road towards the village of Krasno and Sjeverni Velebit. A rather winding road leads through the village of Švica to Krasno, where the road from Senj joins (access is also possible from this direction). In Krasno, continue towards the signs for the Sjeverni Velebit National Park and the Zavižan lodge. The road, which then becomes macadam, leads to the entrance to the park, where the entrance fee is collected. Continue along the road, which leads to a crossroads by a chapel. Continue straight on for another 100m to the parking lot in front of the road closure near the botanical garden (botanički vrt).

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the road, which is closed to traffic, initially almost horizontally. After a few minutes' walk, you reach a crossroads where the road to Gromovača (Premužičeva staza) branches off to the right. Continue along the road from which the road to Zavižanski Pivčevac branches off shortly afterwards. The road then starts to gradually descend and after about 45 minutes of walking makes a double bend. Follow the road downhill for almost 200m to the signs for Mali Rajinac 1:40.
Leave the road here and head left into the forest on the footpath. The path initially climbs through a rather overgrown forest to Vrat, where the path begins to descend slightly. After a short descent, it leads to a larger clearing where you reach a crossroads. Continue right in the direction of Mali Rajinac, which is a 50-minute walk away. On the other side of the clearing, a mark on the R. J. rock tells us that we are on the right path. The trail then climbs through the forest again, where we are helped by frequent markings. The path then almost encircles the summit and leads us up the less and less vegetated slope to the top.
