Access to the starting point:
First drive to Kranjska Gora, then follow the signs for the Kranjska Gora ski resort. Park in the large parking lot at the foot of the Kranjska Gora ski slopes.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue in the route Ciprnik, first on metal stairs and past the ticket booth. At the ticket office you will also see signs for Bedančev dom, which is a 45-minute climb. There is another climb up metal steps, and then we reach the bottom station of the quad chair lift Vitranc I, and we continue slightly to the right of the lift, along a dirt road that starts to climb by the ski slope (in summer, the Besna Pehta summer toboggan run). The road continues to climb, but at a higher altitude it can be left, as cart track continues slightly to the left, next to the summer toboggan run, which returns to the road at a higher altitude. When we return to the road, we are still 10 minutes away from a cautious walk (cautious because a cyclist may come opposite us, as they have their own track here) and we have already reached the top station of the Vitranc I four-seater and a few 10 steps further on to the Bedanča home.
Just above Bedančev dom we see the following yellow tourist signs, and we follow them in the direction of Vitranca and Ciprnik, i. e. further along the road. The road then climbs in a few bends, and then leads to a part of the Kranj Mountains ski slopes above Podkoren, where we climb to the left of the top station of the Podkoren four-seater. Above the above mentioned station of the four-seater, the ski slopes end, and the path then climbs for some time along the former ski slope leading from Vitranca (the ski slope was never groomed, as the slope was too steep for the snow trampler. As there were many accidents, including fatal ones, the ski slope was closed and the lift continued to operate, but it was forbidden to ski on it), and then it enters the forest, through which it starts to climb steeply. A rope helps us at a few slippery spots, and we cross the former ski slope, which is already quite overgrown, once more higher up, and then climb through the lane of the forest to the ridge Vitranca, where we continue left to the Mojca's house, some 10 steps away.
From the Mojca's house, near which there is also the dilapidated Dom na Vitrancu, go back a few 10 steps to the crossroads, from where you continue in the direction of Ciprnik, where the trail leads you past the dilapidated one-seater Vitranc II. (The Vitranc II is the oldest single-seater in Slovenia and one of the oldest in the world, bearing the year 1958. A few years ago it was still safe to drive to Vitranc, but today it no longer has a licence).
The route continues along the ridge of Vitranc with some short ascents and descents, and then we arrive at the place where the route from Planica joins from the right.
Continue straight ahead on a gradually steeper and steeper path, which takes you higher out of the forest into lane of dwarf pines. The steep path, along which there are some fixed safety gear, which are not strictly necessary, then follows us all the way to the lookout Ciprnika. Kranjska Gora - Bedančev dom 50 minutes, Bedančev dom - Mojčin dom 1:20, Mojčin dom - Ciprnik 45 minutes.
Access via the described route is forbidden during ski resort opening hours.
Description and pictures refer to the situation in 2016 (June).
