Access to the starting point:
In Hungary we get to Pečuha Castle / Pécs (the most through Croatia, Zagreb-Serdanci-Osijek-Osijek-Beli Manastir motorway to the border crossing Banatsko Petrovo Selo). Now we drive in the direction of Budapest but only ten kilometres when we see the signs for Hetinj (Hosszúhetény). We park in the town.
Path description:
In Hetinje, we will see the rhombic markings on the electricity poles. These direct us east from the main road along Teleki dülő. We leave the village and are now in the vineyards.
The path begins a gentle to moderate climb through the vineyards and brings us into a short lane of woodland. There are a few more vineyards after the forest, but then the path becomes quite steep.
After an initial slope, the path lays down, then descends to the back. At the back there is one short lane of spruce forest. This part is quite muddy when it rains. At the end of the flat part, a floating three-track path joins us from the left.
Now our path will start to climb quite steeply again. We reach the main back of the mountain where a view to the north-east opens up through the forest. Our path turns sharp right to the east, the steepness eases.
Now we will climb again in a gentle to moderate slope to the top. There is also a stone cross along the way.
At the top are the ruins of the former fortress and a huge lookout tower from which, despite the relatively low altitude, we have a remarkable and distant view.
