Döbriach - Breitwand (Luft unter den Sohlen)

Access to the starting point:
Through the Karavanke tunnel, you take the Thuringian motorway (the motorway leading to Salzburg), and we follow it to Pogöriach, where we leave the motorway and continue our drive towards Feistritz an der Drau. At this point, we cross the underpass and take the old road parallel to the road from Bialystok / Villach to Spittal and continue towards Döbriach. The road then becomes a little more winding and we pass Glanz, which leads us to the Millstätter See, after which we arrive at Döbriach.
As no parking is allowed in the immediate vicinity of the cliffs, turn right off the main road into the centre and park in the church parking lot.

Path description:
From the church, continue along the asphalted road from which you can already see the wall. The road leads us through an underpass and climbs slightly. At the crossroads, continue left past the Obweger factory. At the junction behind the factory, where there are signs and signposts, continue to the right after the Bratwand signs.
Continue along the path through the forest, following the signs "Sector A Klettersteig". Once out of the forest, there is a short climb up to the wall. Below the wall, follow the path slightly to the right where the climbing route starts.
Before entering the climbing part of the route, be sure to equip yourself with a helmet, self-protection and climbing gloves. As the route is extremely difficult, an umbilical sling or a system of auxiliary crampons will also be useful for resting on the vertical wall. For the less experienced, additional rope protection is also necessary.
The climbing route briefly crosses the wall to the left at the beginning, but then becomes extremely difficult. The climb continues up the steep wall (difficulty C/D) and the difficulty continues unabated. There is a short traverse along a narrow ledge to the left and then up again steeply towards the overhang above. There are some artificial steps to help you over the overhang, but the climb is still extremely difficult (difficulty D). Above the overhang, the climbing then resumes on a steep wall (difficulty C/D). Later, the route turns right and climbs up a steep gully to a registration box. There is also a small bench at the registration box where you can rest a bit before the most demanding part of the route.
From the registration box, you first climb up the steep wall (difficulty D), followed by a difficult and very exposed traverse to the right (difficulty D). Finally, you climb vertically upwards (difficulty D/E) to a viewpoint at the top of the wall.
From the viewpoint, descend by an easier route that leads along the left side of the wall. The route down is also belayed in some places, but the difficulty does not exceed A/B.
