Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Koper take the exit Divača and follow the road towards the villages Lokev and Lipica. Continue through the village of Lokev and soon you will reach a crossroads where the road to the village of Lipica branches off to the right. Here, continue straight on in the direction of Itali. Just before the border crossing (near the casino), park in the gravel parking lot. Only guests are allowed to park in front of the casino.
Path description:
Between the parking lot and the border crossing point, you will see a dirt road turning off the main road to the left. After a few steps, you will see the mountain signs for Kokoš along this road. Continue along the road, which climbs only slightly and after about 30 minutes of climbing the path leads us to a marked crossroads. Continue right in the direction of "Kokoš steep path" (straight Kokoš on the road) along the path, which begins to climb steeply through the forest. Higher up, the path leaves the forest and turns into a small scree slope. Further along the path you will see border stones and just a little further on a sign with the inscription "beware of the state border".
Continue on the Slovenian side along the marked path, which begins to descend slightly and after a few minutes joins the forest road which we left lower down. Continue slightly to the right and follow the folded road to the top of Kokoši, where the mountain lodge is situated.
