Bohinjska Bistrica (railway station) - Grmečica waterfall

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenica take the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and on to Bohinjska Bistrica. In Bohinjska Bistrica turn onto Ajdovska cesta and follow it past the church to the railway station, where you park.

Path description:
From the railway station, walk along Ajdovska cesta and before the bridge over the Belca stream, turn right downhill and then left after a few metres, following the asphalted road, which turns into a macadam road after 100 metres. With a view of Ajdovski gradec (580 m), continue under the railway bridge (which leads over the Sava Bohinjka) to the end of the macadam road where the house stands (officially, this whole section of the macadam road is part of the Ajdovska cesta, which is therefore the longest street in Bohinjska Bistrica). In front of the house, signs direct you towards the Grmečica waterfall. Continue across the meadow and when opposite the village Lepence cross the torrent. From there the path winds along the Sava for some time. In between there is one slightly more difficult part, where we are protected by a rope (a 2 metre rocky jump). From here on, we soon get onto the wider cart track, which takes us out of the woods and onto a meadow and into the village of Log, through which we walk and at the end of which we turn left onto cart track, which crosses a larger meadow. A pleasant dirt track, which continues through the forest, then continues along the Sava Bohinjka River, which then recedes slightly to the right. A few minutes' walk and the path will lead you to the Grmečica waterfall.

The recommended time to visit is in spring, as cattle graze in the meadows near the village of Log in autumn.
