Žagana peč - Kalška gora

Print
ksena28. 10. 2010 07:55:58
Yesterday early afternoon Andrej and I parked above Žagana peč and climbed up a fairly steep hunting trail to the hunting hut. From Brane it was already snowing lightly. Familiar sound that never leaves you indifferent. Up to the hunting hut the ground was only lightly dusted with first snow, from there we walked on a snow carpet decorated with golden larch needles. The snow blanket grew with height and on the scree under the walls of Kalška gora it was already uncomfortably high so we had to watch where we stepped. In puffed spots it sank to the knees. Before entering the cable-protected steep part it sank over our knees too. On the ridge strong wind and biting cold awaited us so we quickly crossed to the top of Kalška gora. The path was snowy, partly blown bare, hard, already on the verge of ice. At the top due to wind we didn't linger much but couldn't resist wonderful views of Grintovec, Skuta, Turska gora glowing in the setting sun. Due to the late hour we descended straight from the top to the dwarf pines. Cairns showed the way. Walking on dwarf pines and snowy rocks wasn't pleasant at all but when we stepped on the snowy-leafy forest combo it "flew" by itself. Almost like on skisnasmeh. At the car we were in already pitch dark. Since the camera stayed in the car jezen, no pics of the awakening winter unfortunately. Next time. To this unpopulated corner of KSA I'll surely return, next time probably already on skis.

Today to Kalška gora from Žagana peč. Andrej Stritar calls this tour that in his guidebook. The road to the freight cable car is supposed to be closed to traffic, but nobody respects it. I followed the sign and walked to the start, which is behind the big rock called Žagana peč to the left. The little path is barely visible from the road, easy to miss, especially if cars are there. It's an unmarked path, upper part pathless. It's basically a hunting trail leading to a small saddle with a hunting hut. To the hut and a bit above among beeches. Further among larches. Then we reach high alpine pastures, cairns help keep the right direction. Terrain is open, easy to find passages and soon spot the path from Kalec. We join it and scramble along the chain to the saddle between Kalški greben and Kalška gora. To the summit just ten more minutes. Summit has stamp and logbook. Then I descended the scree path, partly secured, to Cojzova hut. From Cojzova hut back to the valley in Kamniška Bistrica.
The hunting trail from Žagana peč towards Kalška gora is so pleasant.1
In about half an hour we reach the hunting hut.2
Then there are no more nice little paths - we go through this thicket.3
The rocky section of the path begins.4
From the hunting hut to the summit of Kalška gora is two hours' walk - we search for passages over this.5
Finally we join the path from Kalcev which leads to Kalška gora.6
Summit of Kalška gora with a wonderful backdrop.7
Now down to Cojz's hut.8

Did you maybe find edelweiss, two years ago there were - as we say a whole sea, and quite big ones.nasmeh
This is really a beautiful path, ... we walked it twice already in the same direction.
Best!

I found one lonely one almost at the top of Kalška gora - there weren't any - which seemed strange to me. I presented it among the flowers as the first.

Yesterday afternoon from Kamniška Bistrica past Žagana peč, half hunting path to Kalška gora. The path is dry up to 1550 m, higher there is still quite a bit of snow and pure winter conditions. Crampons were not needed due to quite southern snow, but if someone goes in the morning hours when the snow is frozen, they will be mandatory. Wind in these parts was just a sample nasmeh
On the path a nice view to the KSA peaks opens up several times.1

Only lying to himself, all the others know that the decree for golf, tennis, and running takes effect only on Saturday.

Of course, this decree will not apply to movement in the high mountains, which is still discouraged.

Primož, you have great luck living in such a well-organized and touristically (mountaineering) interesting municipality. You always surprise us pleasantly and positively with your choice of mountain visits. Whether it is 1/5 or 5/5 family setup. No wonder the likes fly to the sky. We all morally support you. Good luck! nasmeh

No income from sport, understand. On Kalška gora now it's mocking rescuers, but you don't understand it that way, so blessed are the fools. I prefer to watch RTV, which must justify double the number of employees in UKC Ljubljana with an incredible number of daily shows.jezen

Just for information. GRS no longer has the extended license for mountain rescue, therefore the path closure is just a cover and has no relation to the virus.
