Which flower is this?

Flowers as every year at this time from the area of Vodnikov dom. This time I actually used the two-day course for mountain warden. We were at the new hut on planina Uskovnica. The second day we went to Vodnikov dom via Čipr. Back via planina Konjščica. I found a lot of flowers. I'll show maybe only half. More those I haven't seen this year yet. And also not to repeat the same flowers. Still there at the scree before Vodnikov dom we see lots of lilies. I saw several types of hawkweeds, orchids, gentians, carnations, common catchfly, hairy catchfly, edelweiss, several rock jasmines, alpine rock-rose, etc.

On Uskovnica there is plenty of honey-scented parave lakote.

On the unmown and ungrazed meadows of the alpine pasture there is plenty of resinous kukavičnik.

On the Uskovnica pasture I already found blooming cross-leaved gentian.

We also find several species of thistles and knapweeds.

Woolly-headed knapweed is not yet blooming.

There is plenty of Austrian leopard's-bane.

In the scree rocks in front of Vodnikov dom I always find Zois' bellflowers.

When we come out of the Čiprja gorge, the real hunt for beautiful alpine flowers begins - Clusius' cinquefoil.

At the junction to Toscc we find rhelikanijeve primroses. Around Vodnikov dom I didn't find any.

July silverweed, we also find all the others.

There around Vodnikov dom we find many-flowered leopard's-bane.

With the alpine rockjasmine the wind bothered me too much, so I have them between my fingers.

On the way back to Uskovnica I also found a couple of rockjasmins. Here is the evergreen rockjasmin.

Yesterday we visited the high mountain Montaževa planota and wandered through its pastures from planina Pekol to planina Cregnedul. The livestock was nicely resting in the barns. We didn't even go up to the hut. This is what I found.

It should be identified by the bracts of the flower heads and the leaves.

It has such leaves. With these thorny ones I'm always in a dilemma about identification.

silvo 1952 on the first two pictures you have capitata hawkweed, on the third popon or little sun plus evergreen rockcress, on the fourth only evergreen rockcress, on the fifth and sixth pictures it's mountain goldenrod. On lower altitudes blooms similar common goldenrod -it grows up to 1 meter height -mountain one is half as tall. Goldenrods are medicinal plants. L.P.

mirank I somewhat envy your Dolomites. Let's look at your flowers.

No. 1 is bearded pink
No. 2 and 4 is Triglav rose
No. 3 is Rhaetian poppy
No. 5 and 6 is Pyrenean rockcress

Branko, I think you missed naming pictures 5 and 6 - @ mirank. On pictures it's round-leaved campion.

With joy I look at these wonderful flowers, I especially try to remember the names, as I'm a flower lover. In my archive there is already a nice number of flowers that I don't know. Maybe I'll publish them sometime and ask for your advice.

Here, this I photographed today on the tour to Šavnik.

Nettle-leaved bellflower. I also saw Schuchzer's, bell-shaped and woolly-leaved.

I also saw the evergreen one - it already had completely red flowers.

Narrow-leaved hawkweed, I saw at least five other species too.

The beautiful common rattle surprised us - it was the only one.

Thistle - probably thick-leaved thistle.

These are its leaves. Flowers on thistles are similar. The easiest way to distinguish them is by the leaves and the involucral bracts of the head.

Thistle or knapweed - they always confuse me. Probably alpine thistle.

This is what it looks like. There were even several species of thistles and knapweeds that I actually cannot distinguish.

I know you know the flowers but still, so others know what you photographed:

1. pot-bellied bellflower
2. daisy edelweiss
3. and 4. this bellflower everyone knows - Zois' bellflower
5. July poppy - we find it in Julian Alps, Karavanks and no KSA. In Northern Limestone Alps (central Switzerland and to W) similar Sendtner's poppy grows. I haven't seen it yet.

Branko, yes, on every part of the path different flowers. Interesting that there wasn't even one gentian the whole way to Kanja saddle. Nice celebrating today. All the best.
