PFranci and bagi - what's your rating of Julia and Rosalba Grasselli? I went up Julči last year and it seemed quite hard to me. Igor Zlodej advised me years ago up Julči, down Rosalba, which should be technically less demanding.

@janez .... approximate rating of Rosalba is like going through Plemenice to Triglav. Some ferrata, some climbing, plus a bit of ridge. Check the photos, quite visible on them. I vote for Rosalba up, Julči down. They equipped it now so only missing are the moving stairs velik nasmeh. Previous chains are just a nice memory

Gilberti Hut - Bila Peč Saddle - Kanin Glacier - Via Julia - High Kanin - Osojnica Peak - Prestreljenik - Prevala Saddle - Gilberti Hut.
The snowfield under Julia is still holding and will get harder every day, so ice axe recommended. Luckily no one was coming down, otherwise there would have been quite a big jam. Over Long Prode no peculiarities, nice panoramic, definitely recommended for those who like walking longer paths. Under the "window" a bit up and then shortcut under the south wall of Prestreljenik, which my buddy and I marked a few years ago and then to the top of Prestreljenik, where there are also no peculiarities on the path. To Prevala along the marked path, which is much better than scree on the ski slope, and you can check out some sights along the path too.

Gozdec - Gozdec Pasture - Veliki Dol - Zadnji Dol - Visoka Glava - High Kanin - Long Prodi - Osojnica Peak - Peter Skalar Lodge - Station D - Station C - Gozdec

With a backpack on shoulders on a trip to the world of wilderness, peace and silence.
Pleasant path nicely traceable throughout, in Zadnji Dol also many cairns in well visible places. Markings are still noticeable, but somewhat faded in places, so this path will eventually become an unmarked trail with off-trail sections.
In the area of valleys between Visoka Glava and High Kanin, two cairns led me too far right, obviously leading towards Visoka Glava. In circular exploration of a suitable approach to its summit among numerous screes and rocky piles, I turned back a bit below the summit, returned and found cairns for the entry point into the scree under High Kanin. Fixed cables in perfect condition.
At the summit a chamois greeted me, curiously peeking from behind the box. Beautiful solitary fairy tale, but according to the logbook, for many the Italian ferrata Via Julia approach is more interesting.
Descent to Peter Skalar Lodge with better visible markings, where a chamois kept me company for part of the way nasmeh From the lodge onwards across Kanin ski area back to the car without major peculiarities on the path.

So beautifully solitary that at times this dimension evokes those hard-to-describe feelings. Solitary trips are in a class of their own... mežikanje

buda1, many thanks nasmeh

It's true, enthusiasm sprouts and keeps growing, then the mountain calls you itself, when you fully mature for it, preparations follow and finally the satisfaction of a magnificent ascent.

Maemi, you wrote well about enthusiasm, it is truly the driving force of all achievements, especially personal ones. Every trip starts first with enthusiasm for the idea that takes you completely, so you search for data, plan, sift through, compare and rejoice already in these preparations. And if the enthusiasm increases, the choice was right. The ascent is then just the crown of all enthusiasm and planning. Actually, satisfaction starts already with the idea!

I'm interested if winter gear is needed for access to Julči at this time? Thanks for the answer.

Yesterday on the way back from Žrd I also climbed to the entrance of ferrata Julia. There is still snow, but no winter gear is needed (maybe small crampons for a better feeling), the terminal chimney practically isn't there.

Yesterday early morning on Kanin, circular tour Grasselli-Julia. No peculiarities on the path, cables in excellent condition, markings at some points ridiculously many (pic 4), only junction 30 meters before bivouac not well marked so we searched a bit in the dark. No snow under Julia. Question for better experts of these parts: shortly after start of ferrata Julia on left ledge markings and some cables visible (last pic), on the path on scree I'd say it's quite visited. Does anyone know what path it is or where it leads?

Via delle cenge, second variant of the northern path to Kanin, mainly unprotected traverse across the wall. I don't know how difficult it is, probably within II grade. It exits onto the Slovenian path to Kanin a bit further from the summit than Julia. If you go on the Slovenian path to Kanin or from it, the exit is clearly visible (once even marked, now I don't know if it still is).
