Bagi, when did you do it? We wanted the same route but in such weather really not for walking. Hope that on Tuesday there'll be stable enough weather and snow gone. And hope we hit the right cairn. zavijanje z očmi First time going.

A few days ago I was at Mišelj konec, ... sorry readers if I'm warming up the old topic again, but anyway: descent from the summit to the west towards Hribarice ?!?
Despite reading some local forum posts and Habjan's description in the Brezpotja book, ... up there I found no piton for descent help? Does anyone know where it is and its microlocation?, ... otherwise which gully on the pics is easier for descent?

gams1, I was there in summer and went up the gully right of the drawn route on the pic. First climb the step, then at the gully entry on the right is an older bolt. Black shows where I went, green marks the spot at the gully entry on the right where the older bolt is.

Something like that I went in the descent of the upper part, but under the bolt vertically down that gully, in it an old Jesenice piton.

Oh, dear, dear.........VODNIKOV DOM at Velem polje!!!!! On Friday afternoon we climbed from Rudno polje to Vodnikov dom to sleep there and head out the next day on the traverse described above. We had already reserved a spot by phone, notified again on Friday morning that we were coming in the evening.........We arrive and what do we find, everything is full. They sent us to the lower planšarija, where we found four more hikers in the same situation. There we learned that almost all beds were taken and the planšar wasn't even informed of our arrival. I was lucky, as one spot was found for me. The others had to sleep in a nearby wooden hut, which is occasionally also a chapel, quite comfortable. But, what with the lack of blankets, and we didn't have sleeping bags with us............Well, the first night was a bit --quite cold for some, but better the next day as we warmed up nicely on the long tour. The next night we all got spots in the planšarija. In the end, we found it much more comfortable, friendly and homely than at Vodnikov dom. An older but very youthful and vital couple takes care of 65 cows, and occasionally offers accommodation, prepares breakfast with homemade bread, butter and milk, for lunch and dinner cooks excellent žganci with sour milk............in short, an unpleasant start with an excellent end. The friendly caretaker pointed us to the right path very early in the morning, which led us to the planina below Mišelj vrh. Here we saw a herd of chamois, about thirteen of them..........When we reached the scree, a big rock directed us right onto an unmarked path. The path took us across a grassy plain into a gravel gully, to a scree field and to a grassy saddle. From there, Triglav captured our attention in all its beauty. We turned left towards the summit, searched a bit for the easiest passage and climbed up the gully to easier terrain and the top. Here two young guys from Jezersko caught up with us, so we continued the path occasionally together. Walking along the very scenic ridge didn't cause us major problems and fairly quickly we found ourselves on the last part of the ascent, which is not difficult. Our friend skipped this last part because the sleepless night due to cold left its mark. After descending from the summit along the same path, we turned left towards Dolič and along the picturesque Velska dolina back to the planšarija, where Mrs. Tina took care with warm words and good food to replenish our lost strength. The next day we said goodbye with extremely nice feelings and besides the body, the soul was especially nourished.nasmeh
At the pond JEZERCE in the heart of the Draški vrh group, we turned left.1
View from STUDORSKI PREVAL towards the LOWER BOHINJ MOUNTAINS.2
After a short descent over the foot of Sleme, we continued over the vast slopes of Tosc.3
Then we stepped onto the undulating plateau above Veliko polje.4
We reached Vodnikov dom, but then descended to the lower alpine pasture and cheese dairy.5
Velo polje6
Here we ascend to the alpine pasture Pod Mišelj vrhom.7
Here we noticed a herd of chamois.8
Left upwards towards Mišeljski preval, but soon we turn right. At this point there is a cairn.9
Here we follow a well-visible hunting path, with cairns here and there.10
We walked along the left side of the scree, but one can also go along the right side, a little lower.11

13
After the scree, easy pathless terrain of grass and rubble follows to the summit ridge.14
We'll have to go up there.15
The views are phenomenal. Očak is wonderful and always tempting.16
Our first goal. We study where we will climb to the summit.17
Edelweiss, however, is plentiful in these areas.18
We went up this gully.19

We descended along this ridge. There were no major difficulties, just a bit of caution needed here and there.22
During the traverse, we also climb Na Nizkem, 2275 m, and Mišeljska glava, 2273 m.23

Hi. I would combine the path to Kanjavec and Mišelj konec into a nice two-day tour.
Does it make sense to go to Kanjavec first and then to Mišelj konec and onwards to the starting point?
Would planina Blato be the best choice for a circular route?
like
felix7. 07. 2022 11:58:38
Of course you can also from Blato to Laz and behind Debelim vrhom to Kanjavec and to Dolič. Second day to Mišeljski konec, then return over Hribarice and behind Debelim vrhom, or past Škednjovec, Stogov and Krstenice to planina Blato.

What about the ascent from Planina Blato through the Mišelj group? Is it a harder variant?
like
velocy18. 07. 2022 19:00:09
In my opinion the optimal variant is: Blato - Krstenica - Pl. pod Mišelj vrhom - Koštrunovec - M. Vrh - M.Konec - Dolič (sleep), second day to Kanjavec, return either through dolina sedmerih or Za Kopico. The section from Planina pod Mišelj vrhom is pathless, but orientation is not too difficult. The only slightly more demanding spot is the chimney on the ascent from Koštrunovec to Mišeljski vrh. Good luck.

On Tuesday finally did this wonderful traverse. The views are really fantastic and enjoying the solitude when you know that a highway is rolling not far from you.
Just...took the pathless part too literally and tried some new variants...which I don't recommend zadrega

This is really a beautiful traverse in these parts. Even on the "highway" there's no more traffic, let alone up here. Autumn colors are shyly revealing themselves..

Our home mountains smelled good to us again and that's why we visit peaks we haven't been to for a long, long time. One such is the Mišelj ridge with its vassal Koštrunovec. We headed there from Pokljuka. It's close, so we didn't need to get up too early and it has one of the rare free parking spots velik nasmeh.

The intro is known, walked many times. Along the Triglav magistral we descended via Studorski preval to the slope under Tosc. Here we met numerous hikers heading to our daddy. Some with light, others heavy legs, but all with the same goal.

But we left this path at the junction to Voje and descended via a transverse shortcut to the planina below Mišelj vrh. There we followed the marked path for a while and branched right at the antlers onto an unmarked path. This junction is important but poorly visible and easy to miss. Higher up we turned our own way at a big boulder towards Koštrunovec. We followed animal tracks, as many passages are overgrown and we would lose too much time searching for the shortest path. We had no major difficulties and soon stood on the first summit, Koštrunovec. But there are so many edelweiss on this path that despite care you surely step on some.

Followed one of the harder parts, ascent to Mišelj vrh. Quite some altitude to cover, the key part is the chimney with climbing up to grade II. Easiest to overcome via the right ramp, but the rock is rounded and without real holds. The continuation is also steep and crumbly, so caution is advised. Descent from the summit and continuation along the ridge also offers a good dose of difficulty. The ridge is quite narrow in places, direction sometimes questionable, some scrambling on crumbly terrain. Just the opposite is the ascent to Mišelj konec BP and solidly trodden.

Return was along Velska dolina to Vodnikov dom and further along the morning path over Studorski preval to the start. Long path that we will repeat nasmeh. More in the photo story …
We park at the free parking lot next to the barracks.1
A little further is the municipal one. The price here is 7€/day for a personal vehicle.2
Direction Triglav, just before Vodnik we will branch off.3
Summer camp of PD Litija. Around are posted *Private* signs so that no foreigner joins :)4
Patients with red spray have also tackled the Triglav highway. The mentioned one is not guilty of anything here, but can claim copyright.5
Towards Studorski preval columns are already winding.6
It's still early, so the transverse path under Tosc is still pleasantly cool.7
After the bend we first spot our goal, Koštrunovec and Mišelj greben with all peaks.8
Here we turn left onto the marked path towards Velem polju.9
Soon after we turn left again onto an unmarked and partially overgrown path.10
This leads to the former residence of the post-war political elite, now under the auspices of TNP.11
In the valley we rejoin the marked path, this time towards Mišeljski preval.12
From here there is a great view of Koštrunovec in the foreground and Mišelj vrh above it.13
For possible repeaters. At these cows an unmarked path branches off into Mišeljska dolina :)14
The path is well trodden, one just needs to follow it constantly.15
There is quite an ascent, no crowds :)16
At the large boulder we choose the right branch towards Koštrunovec. Straight ahead one can reach the ridge directly.17
There is no path, only animal tracks. We seek the best and least bushy passages.18
Here are real fields of gentians. We haven't seen so many for a long time :)19
View towards Škednjovec.20
Higher up it's easier to determine the direction. Below Mišelj vrh we go right21
Here according to the digital map the access from the other direction should pass, but there is no trace of any path22
View of Velo polje …23
View of Mišelj vrh, which we still have to ascend. Here we stick to the far left, then towards the top we enter the right gully24
View of the three peaks of Koštrunovca. The highest is the left, rocky one, the digital map has the highest point down in the sinkhole :)25
In the background the Triglav magistrala is clearly visible, running below Vernar26
After strenuous ascent to Mišelj vrh we reach the key point. The crossing is on the right ramp27
View back. This is how it looks….28
Higher up there is some dense scrub that requires all caution. Below is a nice view of Koštrunovec.29
This is Triglav. On the ridge crowds of conquerors are winding.30
In the background Mišelj konec. It will be long, long :)31
Surprise. From Mišelj vrh two more hikers are descending. Later they obviously descend back to the valley, as we don't meet.32
Narrowest part of the ridge. At some places it makes sense to engage four-wheel drive :)33
Some scrambling doesn't escape us either. The direction is hard to determine, often feeling prevails.34
But we know we're on the right path :)35
View back on the traversed path36
Later we will step onto the path below Kanjavčevim zobom.37
It has clouded over. The sun appears only here and there.38
Mišelj konec. Access to it is not difficult, but it's good to remember the unmarked path.39
It's long from Pokljuka to here, we walked almost 8 hours. Fast or slow, depending on who…40
We don't have much time left, so we descend the easiest path. Some snow doesn't hinder.41
Below we join the marked path to Vodnikov dom.42
The weather is getting cloudier, but there should be no precipitation.43
The ground is real luxury for walking compared to what we just traversed.44
Even here some smaller snow patches persist.45
We walk along the edge of Velske doline and slowly approach Velem polju.46
We are already at the lowest point. Only the ascent to Vodnikov dom remains.47
It's about time :). Here will be the first more substantial rest.48
Hard to believe. We just settled comfortably when some dozens … Koreans come towards us :)49
We leave the friendly hut with unfriendly prices and set off on the last part of the loop trail50
Some longer ascent follows, then we join the morning path51
View back to Vernar and Vodnikov dom52
Area of *active landslide*. It's been a good decade, so I see no more sense in warning signs53
The cross path after a long day drags on, but at least it doesn't burn us54
Relatively easiest path to Triglav from Pokljuka. Whole bunch of ascents and descents that you have to do both ways55
We're already almost in photo-finish :). Here there used to be parking for Triglav, but now a barrier at the barracks blocks access56
Conclusion of a strenuous but beautiful day :)57
Track of the traversed path. In total, it added up to 28 km and 2100 m elevation gain58
