St. Jakob...Srednji vrh...Kališče...St. Jakob - circular tour

Started in Preddvor or a bit higher, somewhere by Turn Castle, then followed walking, lots of walking Past Pl. hut Iskra or St. Jakob-Javorov vrh-Cjanovca-Srednji vrh-Mali Grintovec-Bašeljski vrh-hut at Kališče-via lower path over Hudičev boršt-over Potoška gora and back to start. The tour was fully to my liking, no crowds, unlike path to Iskra. Weather held despite occasional dark clouds, just no views really. Path dry, except from Srednji vrh still some patches here and there. Path not strenuous, long, recommend to all who like walking...

Seventeen long years ago we did the same tour with my son when he was still a teenager, only difference we continued from Kališče to Storžič. Back from Kališče we went to valley at Mače. I know the boy was so tired at Bor inn that he sat down and I had to go alone for the car to Turn castle. From Javorjev vrh we went on lower path over Hudičev boršt. That part from boršt to Mali Grintovec seemed most beautiful to me. That gully from end of boršt to Grintovec was full of alpine flowers. I want to do this tour again this year at least to Kališče. Gladly believe dear "ROZKA" it enthused you.

End of May could already be too hot as the path is all the time very exposed to sun. Otherwise very nice trip, especially when there's still some snow.

For this tour it's really better not too hot, already on Saturday it was hot at times, then clouds and wind did their bit and it was quite pleasant to walk.

Primoza, what are you trying to say about conditions and this tour? The way you wrote it, I understand the tour has this feature that it's exceptionally easy (obviously due to some special configuration or what?), since despite relatively long length even five-year-olds walk it all and don't get tired at all.
Well, maybe I misunderstood and the tour is normal and you just boasted you have exceptionally enduring kids (as if anyone here cares).

There's always someone who takes every well-meant writing as a topic for nagging and inappropriate comments.
Shame.
If it goes on like this, everyone will think twice before writing anything.
Release that negative energy better for useful work.
Real hikers use it for pleasant hikes and meeting like-minded people.
I wish them as many pleasant moments and safe steps as possible.

I ran this variant last year including running to Storžič in between. Interesting and nice mountain run for which my colleague and I at very moderate pace needed 3 hours and 46 minutes. Apparently they've run this variant well under three hours already.

Nice circular path in this area also from Cjanovca, Srednji vrh, Mali Grintavec over Mačensko sedlo to Bašeljski vrh to Dom na Kališču. The path can be hiked more or less along the ridge and is very panoramic, not demanding, in places there was still some snow. Of course for well-conditioned ones, can climb Storžič from Bašeljski preval in between. Start by car via Preddvor and Mače then on foot to junction under cargo cableway, keep right marked path, left is the usual or more trodden path to Kališče.

I did a similar tour last week myself but in reverse direction: Mače - Kališče - Bašeljski vrh - Mali Grintovec - Srednji vrh - Cjanovca - Javorov vrh - St. Jakob - Preddvor. Really nice and solitary tour, no snow anymore, just windy along the whole ridge quite strongly. Hope for many more like this!

Really nice circular tour, fairly undemanding. Yesterday started at 6am from Mače, via Dolga njiva to Cjanovca, Srednji vrh, Mali Grintavec, Bašeljski vrh. Since there at 9:30 already, decided to hop to Storžič too, but already bit too hot... Descent via Kališče back to start at Mače. Recommend!

St. Jakob an hour ago. Stormy wind in gusts, nothing pleasant. Without bike tracks of course it wouldn't go.

Late afternoon from Mač to St. Jakob. If you step a bit faster it's quite hot.
