Yesterday my wife and I went from Ljubelj past Zelenica to Middle Peak. To Zelenica nice hardened road or along the edge of the ski slope, further from Zelenica it was a bit more varied sinking even to the knees. But it was worth the effort, excellent view awaited us from all sides at the top. Crampons weren't needed, but for a better feeling we took the ice axe from Šija saddle into our hands.

With Franci we drove by car into Završnica valley and reached about 100m below Tičkova koča. Skis on shoulders and after 15 min walk we were on snow. Snow held well though very south-facing. Admired our predecessors from few days ago who went on foot. Some sank pretty deeeep. Eyes from Smukuška planina were seeking nicer views, from Begunjščica walls, Triangl, Na Možeh and of course Vrtača. Since everything more or less avalanced we chose Srednji vrh via Šija saddle. From saddle admired huge avalanche that went south side from Vrtača ridge towards valley, took so much snow that upper path to Stol is clearly visible. Conditions from saddle to summit worsening due to more south snow, but no problems. About views no words needed, gorgeous. Pleasure and recommend! On 5.4.2009 went skiing around Srednji vrh. Route description: Tičkova koča, Zagon, Šija, Zelenica, T. koča. Nice tour. In Zagon went too right too soon and hit bivouac 1. If anyone knows it please info. Has sign bivak 1 1475m. Attaching pics.

Yesterday visit to Srednji vrh. From Ljubelj past Dom na Zelenici on upper path. Then under Moži and Vrtača to Šija saddle. Upper path partly bare, partly under snow, but with friends we well trod the track. From Šija saddle to summit ice axe recommended.
Return past Koča na izviru Završnice. Snow in morning not sinking yet (7 am), on return all water.

On Middle Peak the path is a bit shifted to the dwarf pine ridge, despite bad forecast no sign of any thunderstorm or rain, even around 15:00 all peaks showed up.

After midweek Montaž I went today for a "walk" to Middle Peak. Start from Ljubelj, past the hut at Zelenica, to Završnica spring at Šija and to the summit. Down under Vrtača. Lots of new markings and signposts so you can't get lost. It was wonderful, no clouds, no wind, warm ......

Yesterday around and around Middle Peak with long enjoyment at the top. Path without special features, no more snow on the path. Almost a month ago I watched skiers skiing in the gully from Vrtača, now the gullies are almost snow-free too. In Smokuški plaz only right at the top some snow patches. Nature is already flirting with summer in places. How nice it was, see the link

...Middle Peak - circular path... Ascent over Smokuška planina, descent over Zagon, I hope. A bit from Šija saddle left new path through dwarf pines. No need over the scree part of the path. On the top the right ridge is nicely passable to the end.

I was on Middle Peak today. Ljubelj, Zelenica, Šija, Middle Peak. Down past the hut at Završnica spring. Weather nice, not much wind either. North side of Middle Peak is snowy but not icy and didn't sink much. Few hikers though. On return lower down streams were forming nasmeh

On the hundredth day of the year I headed to Middle Peak. Path to Šija saddle mostly dry, higher up still some snow which is frozen early in the morning but softens quickly when sun comes out.

To Middle Peak from Tinčkova hut. The road from Završnica is officially closed for winter. It is ragged, not all of it, and partly snowy too. The penultimate ditch is very deep. To the Šija saddle is possible without winter gear. Towards the summit it's good to have those big crampons and ice axe. There are some slightly more wind-blown steep slopes. On the summit oh and ah beautiful. nasmeh

Yesterday after rain a beautiful tour to Middle Peak from Ljubelj. Snow aplenty on Ljubelj, more higher up and on Zelenica around twenty cm. Made a track to Šija saddle and ascended through snow with sections of iced snow to panoramic peak. More at:

From Ljubelj along the border past Zelenica to Šija saddle and to Middle Peak. Down past hut at Završnica spring and back to Zelenica. Nice day, some small snow patches to cross. World is small, met lady who was injured 15.7.2017 on Mali Mojstrovka. On return from Prisank with Todij saw helicopter with which they took her to hospital. Found some more shots.

The remediation keeps dragging on.........

Went to Middle Peak again. To hut on Zelenica with Tadej. Continued to Završnica spring past hut to Šija saddle. Before Mid. Peak summit path wet and slippery.
Down under Vrtača. On Zelenica a bit more people. Nice weather, just right warm for hiking.

Again to Middle Peak, this time with Barbara, as she hasn't been up yet.
From Šija saddle to summit put on crampons, also on some sections path icy. Saw quite a few future mountain rescuers searching hidden avalanche bowls. As always around hut on Zelenica lots of people.
Pretty nice day, except moments of a little wind.
