Today on a beautiful September day did a nice tour with companion first time to Italy-Špik Hude police or in Italian Terra Rossa. We drive across the border to Tarvisio, past Lago del Predil. On the way back I stopped here and checked out the swimming area with island. Then over Sella Nevea. When the road descends to Val Resia then to alpine pasture Pecol, where huge parking. In front of us opens wonderful panorama with nice Pecol pasture and Montasio and Špik Hude police in the background. On the pasture huge barns and full of cattle with shepherds who constantly herd the cows together, which you don't see on our pastures. Then to hut Rifugio di Brazza. Unfortunately can't compare to any of ours, so modest it is. From hut to the rocks. Path nicely leads past numerous ibex to the top. Somehow after two and a half hours from parking we are at top. Path very easy, simple. Lots of hikers. Summit not very spacious. No stamp, just modest logbook which is unfortunately full scribbled. Path not engineered, no marks, but signs from parking direct you, only in Italian. After photos and snack back to parking and good mood back to Slovenia. It was nice, we'll come again at least one month earlier when it will bloom more.

The path starts along the rocks.5
Ibex greet us along the entire path. They barely yield the path to us. I've never seen so many ibex. There are lots of young ones.6

Rocky terrain upwards wherever you look.8
The path nicely leads us towards the summit. Ibex everywhere-incredible.9

eekMe too a few weeks ago first time to Špik HP. Only compliments for the tour. Curiosity drove me to Rifugio di Brazza too. Ordered tea (TEA). Though alone after 10-15 min got plastic mug hot water with bag of cheapest chemical industry products floating. Good they added three sugar packets, else not drinkable at all.
Real surprise: though big sign in hut said tea-1.5 Eur, waiter wanted two euros. Asked again "quanto", answer clear - "due euro".
I think I've never drunk such expensive water and won't for long.

Forgot to write myself, if you drink and eat in this hut from your backpack you pay 3 €, think they deter hikers with that nasmeh
@ otiv for me this tour was enough, counting way from home and back nasmeh

probably that's exactly their aim, to deter hikers who eat/drink from own backpack - don't you think?

I believe that's the purpose, but probably earn more if someone takes from backpack and orders cold drink or coffee besides, than not allowed, better go past nasmeh

That's how it is, all look for profit. Hut got strong competition some time ago below at dairy, only few stop there now. But know longtime keeper, always friendly, alpinist and ski-tourer too, knows mountains, rare like that here. Nice to chat, get useful tips.

For example, at Corsi Coca-cola (small 0.33l) 3 € and 1.5l mineral water bottle 2.50 €.
Neither seems excessive to me, esp compared to abroad . . .

Well you know, I'm more sensitive about this, they don't have shameless by Italian policy not one word in Slovenian (check here get Hungarian or Czech, no Slovenian, so nicely avoid go just past. Rather thirst. Well maybe border folks more sensitive; if Italian calls Kredarica they try answer in Italian. Annoys me more than 3 €..

You avoid all this if you go past the hut and eat and drink on top what you have with you. We two also went today from Planina Pecol to Hude Police. It was a nice little hike, we also saw quite a few chamois. Great views!!

Two days ago stood on the summit of Spik Hude Police. Gorgeous weather, some snow on the path at the top, otherwise the path is nicely passable, wide enough that snow doesn't make problems. And by the end of the day quite a bit more melted.
Accessible to ordinary mortals, just head out, it's wonderful...

Hey hi, maybe someone knows what the conditions are like now in Finndeneg's ozebnik under Montaz ?

Look at the picture of Montaz from 12.11. around 13 o'clock, maybe it helps you. The Left path was completely snowy, but true it goes along the ledges where there was most snow.
