Today. Near Kuntarji on a narrow path I stepped next to a viper. I didn't see it. It hissed. And when Marjan and I photographed it, it elegantly slipped into the grass. Wasn't aggressive at all.

I didn't think there would be two adders on the path. This one in the picture was today at 1900 meters on the way to Briceljk. Saw another one lower also on the path. In tall grasses. The first quickly slipped off the path to its home. The second hesitated a bit and took a longer path. Here snakes have golden peace. Both withdrew from the path. True though I spotted both before stepping into the tall grass.

This beauty today seems like an old adder. We were both a bit surprised a bit below 2000m. On descent from Zadnji Ozebnik. It was on the path. Slowly crawled into grass. Let itself be photographed. Didn't even approach. Completely calm it was.
