Snowfield on the Hanz route to Prisank. 15 Aug 2019.
those two guys had an ice axe. But they turned back because you need both. The snow was hard on 15.8.1
I myself wondered if my crampons would grip. The 12 teeth gripped well.2

Yes, Darinka, thanks to you too. I only checked conditions below the Hanz route, instead of Prisojnik in general.

Thanks again for the warnings, otherwise I would have had to turn back, just like the guy who was right in front of me before the snowfield. I used the gear to the full, going on the snow all the way to the top of the tongue. As usual, I reached the summit ten minutes too late, as the mists overtook me. No big deal, there’ll just be a few less photosvelik nasmeh. I descended via the ridge route, from Vršič pass down to the car a friendly guy from Goričko gave me a lift.

lijaneja,
Prisojnik’s Goličica (photo 1) is accessible without harder climbing. It’ll be twenty years since I was up there, maybe a year more, and there was nothing particularly difficult. Right above the saddle (we went up from Koča na Gozdu) between Prednja glava and Goličica there was one awkward jump where I helped myself up and down by pulling on the bushes. Rope, as I recall, my friend and I didn’t need either up or down. Great tour. Here’s a description:

Isn’t it obvious that you take crampons and an ice axe on the Hanz route? Better too much gear than too little. This light-and-fast in sneakers and flip-flops has long gone beyond good taste. Besides, a large portion of people rely on: if it doesn’t work out, I’ll just call 112. And that thesis is NOT made up. But think then also about the fact that you endanger not only yourself but everyone involved in the rescue operation. Vršič pass anyway we know is one of the “hot spots” here and is heavily underestimated. A tour is finished when the “tour analysis” is done, not at the summit. Most accidents happen on the descent. So, people, use your head so that the mountains remain a pleasure.

Bojan, I’ve already studied that description several times, but it just doesn’t add up for mevelik nasmeh I myself doubt I’d be up to it. Maybe someday with Drago or with the young guy you mentionednasmeh

Yes, Juš, and I was without a helmet, self-belay kit, winter boots...eek

Basically Salomon shoes and little crampons don’t cut itjezik Full kit: mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe, self-belay kit, helmet and poles.

Hanz route: beautiful and strenuous but without proper gear don’t risk it, it can cost you dearly. A few years ago with only an ice axe I had a partial slip; it never crosses my mind anymore to leave crampons at home. Safe steps and happy return to the valley I wish all hikers.

On Saturday I took advantage of ideal autumn weather and a dry gully and climbed the Hanz route to Prisojnik. This time I did the ascent alone and the tour once again thrilled me with all its beauty, passages, length and silence (no herd fartingjezik). Waterfalls are there. Protection ok, except one slightly loose cable when descending into the gully with eternal snow (no major issues). The gully is dry on the entry side, on the other side there’s a remnant snowfield which I avoided on the lower side and went a bit up on smooth rock and back onto the marked path. The helmet came in handy, I banged the wall twice while climbingmežikanje. I also used the self-belay kit on all harder sections. The hardest part is after the vertical climb up and then over ledges upward into the upper scree, where there’s quite a long climbing section upward that isn’t protected but the rock is compact and holds are good. I guess that’s grade I climbing. In the final part the sun greets me and the perfectly protected last section, protection flawless, and at the summit in homage to the route and the peak I take off the helmet and enjoy the views. Lots of visitors at the top. Descent via the ridge route to the top of Vršič pass and to Erjavčeva koča, where friendly hikers give me a ride down to Koča na Gozdu.

Yesterday, 18.5.2020, my brother Tomi and I were on the Hanz route to Prisojnik. More description in the pictures nasmeh
Start at seven in the morning at Koča v Gozdu. The weather was cloudy and hot. Scents after rain always enchant.1
One of many mud patches on the trail. Taken on the scree towards the entry into the wall.2
Small snow patch at the entry to the wall.3
At the start, the well-known waterfall nicely showered us :)4
The summit of mighty Prisojnik peeked out from the fog.5
Crossing one of the small snowfields on the traverse to Hanzova stena. It will soon melt in half.6
View towards the continuation of the path.7
Magnificent Hudičev slap.8
Detail of Hanzova stena. It is really steep, but excellently protected and poses no problem.9
Another small snowfield on the path between Hanzova stena and the known eternal snowfield.10
Eternal snowfield. In spring we use it all as it offers a faster and more comfortable ascent. On it we put on crampons and took ice axes in hand and thus to the top.11
Gully between Goličica and Mali Prisank12
We continue to the path junction where one can proceed to the summit or traverse to Prednje okno.13
End of the traverse towards the path junction. The snow was bad, it did not hold and one sank in. At some places there are larger or smaller crevices that can be dangerous for a fall.14
At the junction we made a short break. Path continuation is through the chimney in the middle of the picture.15
Small snowfield on the protected section of the path.16
After the protected section, we descend the snowfield (carefully due to crevices) and later right into the visible gully.17
descent18
And ascent up the previously shown gully that leads to the plateau below Hanzov turn. Here we entered dense fog and waited a bit to see if the fog would dissipate, as a ramp to Hudičev steber follows.19
Half an hour later the fog cleared. We used the pause for a short snack :)20
Clearly visible ramp towards Hudičev steber.21
From here on the more serious part of the tour begins, which is physically and mentally very demanding.22
One of many traverses on the path.23
If Matko has his own cauldron, why wouldn't Prisojnik make a Devil's cauldron for himself too :)24
View towards Mojstrovke and Jalovec.25
Still on the ramp towards Hudičev steber. In the background our footprints on the traverse are clearly visible.26
Steep last section of the ascent towards the saddle between Hudičev steber and Prisojnik27
Tomi at the saddle and the summit of Hudičev steber behind.28
Start of Hanzova polica. At this part one goes like some secret agent on all fours.29
First real bend of Hanzova polica. The snow was also very bad and I thought if it continues like this, better turn back, too dangerous to continue.30
Very very steep exit from the first bend of Hanzova polica. Luckily snow improved here :)31
Second bend of Hanzova polica. This one is very long, perhaps four times longer than the first. Luckily snow ideal for comfortable steps.32
Tomi at the end of the second bend of Hanzova polica.33
Third bend of Hanzova polica. Roughly as long as the second but with more resting spots which is very welcome.34
Tomi in action in the third bend.35
At the end of the third bend of Hanzova polica. Here about 15m to end of Hanzova polica traverse.36
Finally end of traverse. Psychologically very strenuous, made a somewhat longer pause here.37
Steep path section from Hanzova polica to upper scree crossed small snow patches unavoidable. Luckily snow held. Better dry or fully snow-covered.38
Mix of rock and snow, crampons held on both terrains :)39
Little by little we reach the end of the steep slope.40
Path goes obliquely left to saddle below Prisojnik summit pyramid.41
Tomi approaching the saddle.42
And arrived at saddle. Short secured section follows and we are at top.43
View towards Razor and Turn pod Razorjem.44
Entry into climbing section of path.45
Not like Prisojnik without end surprise. 30m from top hit snow-covered traverse.46
We took the rope from the backpack and managed to dig anchors at three points for intermediate belays. It prolonged the last part of the ascent, but safety is safety.47
From the stance onwards, Tomi took the lead.48
Last steps towards the summit.49
The two of us on the Prisojnik summit. Third time for me, first for Tomi via Hanzova. Wonderful experience.50
View towards Viš and Montaž. Behind Montaž, a cloud in the shape of the Matterhorn is visible from the Italian side from Cervinia.51
MMP, VMP, Veliki Oltar, Visoki Rokav and Škrlatica. All as plain as the palm of your hand.52
The descent was along the ridge path. The path is almost entirely snow-free. Everything except one short patch can be bypassed.53
Bavški Grintavec54
Razor55
Triglav56
Zelena Trenta.57
There are still major hazards on the northern side of the ridge.58
We descended very slowly and photographed everything possible. Time passed quickly, but we wanted to stay up here as long as possible after such a tour :)59
The only snow patch we couldn't bypass. In a week or two it might be different.60
What now, do we need to take crampons and ice axe again and repeat the material from Hanzova path.61
Always fascinating Prednje Prisojnikovo okno.62
Sunset.63
Play of colors above Jalovec.64
Slowly the long day to remember comes to an end. One of those unforgettable ones :)65
It's really nice to view Prisojnik in full after such a day up there. Then descent along the road to Koča na Gozdu and slowly towards Zagreb.66
