Last year we did a hike from Bolfenka - Areh (overnight) - Klopni vrh - Pesek - Ribniška koča - Grmovškov dom The entire route took us approx. 12 hours. For next week we plan (29.8.08 if no rain) Pesek - Osankarica (overnight) - Black Lake - Šumik waterfalls - Klopni vrh and return to Pesek. If anyone suggests something else interesting to visit along the way, we'll be glad. Regards

geppo, since you're promoting mushrooming so much, you forgot that mushrooms must be cleaned at the growth site, not carrying them around with half a kilo of soil and litter, probably in a plastic bag, as it's not visible from the first picture that you had baskets besides backpacks. if you don't believe: http://www.uradni-list.si/1/objava.jsp?urlid=199857&stevilka=2689

Of course! This trio was 5m from the bench. In a few minutes they were cleaned and all traces of cleaning hidden. They were removed from the site so that the finder twisted them - just they were so deep and firmly rooted that soil still sticks. We left all older mushrooms - so the one in the picture in grass stayed at site - right by trail! As for baskets - true we didn't have and committed that offense!! Regards

Congrats geppo. Some change from high mountains, walk for the soul, plus mushrooms on top and you know, good company. Keep it up.

Thanks! Yes, socializing is important and it's nice when we get together and go to the mountains. It was nice to see a group of approx. 10 hikers who with strong steps went further towards Ribniška koča - they were in good mood and cheerful - despite the long path still ahead. In the picture they are overtaking us as we left Klopni vrh. Even if we ignore mushrooms, these paths in Pohorje are beautiful and really for the soul and relaxation... Regards

Yesterday I decided to escape civilization even if only for a few hours. I did a tour: Pesnik-Črni vrh-Velika kopa. On the path there is from 20cm to 70cm of snow, the trail is mostly trodden but in between it sank a bit for me.

Next weekend I plan to cross Pohorje along the Slovenian Mountain Trail. Please provide approximate walking times Spodnje Radvanje - Bellevue - hut on Areh - Šumnik - hut on Pesek - Ribniška koča - Grmovškov dom. Where is the most suitable place to overnight? Can the described route be done in two days? Thanks, regards

Cable car - Areh 2 hours Areh (start 5:30) - Pesek (11 o'clock) Pesek (start at 12:00 - Kope (Grmovškov dom 16:15) If memory serves, these were the times!! I would prefer Pesek - but then I didn't get accommodation (late reservation). So I got only Areh and almost the whole route fell on one day. So we walked quite diligently. Then we didn't see Šumik, Lovrenška lakes and at Kolpni vrh we passed the hut. They had arranged transport at 16 on Kope and we hurried a bit more. It's worth taking more time - the route is wonderful! Regards

I would start at Bellevue, then with early start (dawn), in S. Gradec already in the evening, if you push a bit.

If you plan to spend the weekend on Pohorje, then overnight at Ribniška koča (approx. half of the route) and next day to Sl. Gradec. If you plan only one day, then start early from Bellevue and skip the waterfall and L. lakes (which is a big shame) and you'll be at the station in Sl. Gradec in the evening hours.

Thanks again to everyone for the answers, the times you mention are correct. I overnighted at Dom na Pesku, very nicely arranged only bothered me the short opening hours of the hut, open only from 8.00 to 19.00. Otherwise yesterday the weather was ideal for wandering Pohorje, today about an hour before Ribniška koča it really soaked me, so from the hut I didn't continue on SPP but just descended to Ribnica na Pohorju where I ordered transport.

Here, we went through Pohorje in the reverse direction a few years ago. We started early in the morning in Sl. Gradec, then walked to Ribniška koča for about 6 hours. There we were caught by a thunderstorm with hail, so we sheltered for around 3 hours. Then we continued the path via Lovrenške lakes, to the hut at Pesek, where we slept. The second day we had really nice weather, so we slowly continued our path to the hut at Klopni vrh, then on to hotel Bellevue and down to the valley at the snow stadium. Really nice tour that stayed in my memory because of that hail downpour and the swarm of flies that followed us especially on the first day of walking. We'll probably repeat this tour this year soon.

Our group has agreed to try to keep the tradition as long as possible - every year for two days on Pohorje! Lp

Yes, Pohorje is a nice tour. 25-26.4. my colleague and I went from Maribor (on foot from the start of SPT) to Slovenj Gradec. There was still quite a lot of snow (above 1300 m asl), which in my opinion extended the path by about 25%. In the dark, despite headlights, we missed the path to the hut at Pesek and ended up at the hut at Klopni vrh (signs could be better!) but we were kindly received there, even though it was after 22. Past Lovrenške lakes the snow was the worst, over a meter deep, temperatures above zero... They were friendly at Grmovšek hut too, but despite the late hour we decided to descend to Slovenj Gradec and arrived there at midnight. We'll repeat it, but preferably when there's no snow.

Yesterday I did a circular bike tour from Kremžarov vrh, Grmovškov dom, Hut at Pesek, upper cable car station and back. The path followed the Pohorje bike transversal. It added up to 150km, 3600vm and 10 hours on the bike.

The transversal path across Pohorje is very nicely marked, just at Velika Kopa you have to be more careful
