Along the road and first parking on the left is free/because it's military/. Further is paid. Currently due to a race coming up, much less parking.

Does anyone know if you can get a stamp for the hiking booklet at Zajamniki too?

Thanks

Today spent a wonderful winter day on Pokljuka.
Start at 10am from Rudno polje, parking quite empty, fee 7 EUR, very cold (-12°C). On the way through Pokljuka the day's lowest temp briefly -15°C.

First to Planina Zajamniki, enjoyed great views and admired the interesting "street" of shepherds' huts. Then to Uskovnica hut, ate inside and chatted with the friendly keeper we met in summer. Back via Španova jama valley.

Lots of visitors at Uskovnica, hardly anyone at Zajamniki. Wonderful views, windless, nice sun all day. Paths trodden as expected far around, some icy bits at Uskovnica, otherwise no aids needed.

Winter Planina Zajamniki really worth visiting! nasmehnasmeh

We didn't notice Žiga anywhere.
Start at Rudno polje, at the shooting range and on the cross-country tracks already very active1
Descent through the Španove jame valley2
Wonderful views of the Lower Bohinj mountains3

A few steps off the path, stop at the upper part of Planina Praprotnica5

Well signposted and marked all the way, otherwise in winter follow the beaten track and no problems7

Back to Zajamniki. This time from Goreljek pasture, from Hotel Jelka. The pastures just follow one another. First Jelje pasture, then Konjska dolina pasture, and the last one before Zajamniki is Peči pasture.

As expected, crusty snow on the path, so it sank a lot. Often up to the knees. The crustiness changed from meter to meter, so walking was quite "wobbly". Fortunately, snowshoers had compacted part of the path.

Some clouds, plenty of sun, very warm. Some fallen spruces on the path. No one until Zajamniki, then towards Rudno polje some encounters.

Snow on Zajamniki is melting fast. Biathlon race at Rudno polje right now, lots of people. Then just on foot along the road to Hotel Jelka and the loop was closed. nasmehnasmeh

The whole time along the snowy road, it sank properly, even to the knees, though not visible on the photo4

This is how the branch-off to Javorov vrh is marked, the sign on the tree is no longer there6

Interesting detour to Zajamniki pasture from the other side. I've been there before. But somehow I didn't notice Peči pasture. I see it's on the signpost. Looks like I overlooked it. It's not even in my list of Pokljuka pastures. Need to repeat the route.

Peči pasture is the only one of the described pastures that you get closest to, one could say the path goes right through the pasture. Heading towards Zajamniki, on this pasture there are some stone shepherd huts to the right, forest to the left. All other pastures are more tucked away in the valleys below the path. Impossible to miss. nasmehnasmeh

Last weekend children's mountaineering camp. When you're staying on Pokljuka, it's somehow logical that one of the trips is also to Zajamniki and Uskovnica nasmeh

Today unfortunately more rainy than not on Pokljuka. Start at Rudno polje and then via Praprotnica pasture along the forest path to Zajamniki pasture. Return along the forest road back to the barracks at Rudno polje, where we had a warm snack. No views today, but we still enjoyed opening and closing umbrellas.

To Zajamniki from Zgornje Podjelje via Javornica. On sunny sections the path is bare, shady ones just a few cm snow.
Zajamniki pasture almost bare. Back via Konjska dolina. There shadier and about 20 cm snow. Path back to Podjelje quite muddy.
Nice day anyway.

On Sunday to Zajamniki from Srednja vas via Planina na Šeh - very nice path (actually started from Boh. Bistrica, via Senožeta). Judging by forum posts, this path is not as visited as those from Rudno polje and Uskovnica. Returned via Spodnje Podjelje and finished in Jereka. Day was cold, but frost not so felt due to no wind. Still some snow, but melting. A few words and pics: https://hribovanja.blogspot.com/2025/01/planina-zajamniki-1280m-1212025.html

Weather beautiful, comfortably warm in the sun, quite pleasant for visiting those areas.
