At the beginning of July I would go to Piz Boe with friends. Most likely we'll choose the easier route (no via ferratas). I'm wondering if anyone knows the conditions on this path (snow, any other peculiarities, ...) Thanks in advance for the reply

This interests me too. I'm planning Piz Boe, Tre Dita and some other Dolomite tour for the upcoming long weekend. I'd also be grateful for any information. I'd also go by the normal (partly difficult) routes described on this portal in both cases.

At this time there might still be a lot of snow or larger snowfields on this route. I'm also planning this partly difficult route, but in August, when there probably won't be snow on the path anymore. Then in the same month I plan the route to Punta Penio (3343 m) I hope for the best possible weather

Hello, we are usually around those parts around July 20th and there's almost no snow on Piz Boe in that period. Only if you go to Marmolada, you need full winter gear......otherwise you usually encounter only some individual snowfield. Of course at the beginning of the month conditions will be different. From where do you plan to go up? We went to Passo Pordoi and then hiked up, first on slightly steeper scree, then no major difficulties. The via ferrata always from the same starting point is demanding at the beginning and requires some physical strength in arms, and one little bridge is a bit more adrenaline (but not too much), no other difficulties.

I also plan from Passo Pordoi. Now, if there are still snowfields on Piz Boe then probably nothing doing. Maybe Tre Dita is already reasonably snow-free since it's lower.

http://www.hribi.net/spletna_kamera/sass_de_pordoi/502 Currently it's foggy and snowing, so nothing is visible on the camera, otherwise the lower part of the path leading to the Rifugio Forcella Pordoi hut is nicely visible. Snow usually starts from the mentioned hut onwards and in early July there might still be some snow there.

I see that the snow is disappearing quickly, but there's still some up there. That right highest peak seems to be Piz Boe to me. There's quite a bit there. I'll postpone to August too, although there might be quite a Ferragosto crowd up there , so maybe best end of August or beginning of September.

Yes, on the top it looks like there's still some, but know that it's not a very difficult route to the summit and not exposed either. Already end of July there are quite a few people on this mountain, because most take the cable car to Sass Pordoi and then hike to the top. Anyway, the decision is yours.

Crowd of people at Forcella Boe saddle mostly tourists who arrive there by cable car. On the summit there were a bit fewer of us, as all that crowd disperses along the path and on the extensive plateaus. Snow just enough to refresh a bit, and only that on the flat between 2800 and 2900m.

I did the tour to Piz Boe last week! Yeah really, at the saddle and around tons of people, but on Piz Boe I was alone, then one more came behind me, and I met a couple on the way. On the path from Forcella to Piz Boe there are about 3 snowfields but passable without issues! To all who helped me here, some pics from the Dolomites!

Has anyone been there recently? Interested in the snow conditions there? I know usually not much snow but still, any bigger snowfields?

Oh, we were there. Early in the month, did two great tours: to Civetta, had ice axe there which we didn't need, some snowfields but path is routed so no panic, bit harder orientation when on the other side of snowfield looking for poorly marked path but doable slowly. Went up Coldai and down via normale... Piz Boe is fully passable, especially via ferrata... Nice! Just go, good luck!

Since we were around here we climbed Piz Boe again, this time normal route. Started from Passo Pordoi pass and joined all the pilgrims who massively use the cable car. No obstacles on the way, special landscape. Nicer ascent via ferrata but this time no time nor proper weather.

On 15.8 we were at the summit, path dry, you cross just a couple of meters of snow that causes no issues. Path is nice and massively visited, real crowd... Did a loop...
