Has anyone been there recently? How much snow is left? Last year at this time it was all clear, but this winter was a bit more generous with snow.

Hm... not sure if I'm looking wrong, but the description on the link is from 2013. Then I tried to find some other post about Petzeck on the same site, but no recent ones.

Last year the tour excited me so much that I said I'd put it in the PD plan this year. And it happened. And last weekend we went. There are some novelties in Seichenbrunn. On the parking lot they "painted" lines for parking (dug beams), at the start of the trail there's a "monument" of a wooden chamois. Despite a fairly large group, we were all at Wangenitzseehütte in 3 hours. In the afternoon there was (for those who wanted) an "acclimatization" tour. Harder group to Perschitzkopf, easier to the pass towards Lienzerhütte. Well, maybe the name acclimatization tour isn't the best here, since Perschitzkopf is technically much more demanding than Petzeck. For the next morning we arranged (actually the hut keeper suggested it himself :), to have breakfast a bit earlier than official start. So at 7 we could already head to the summit. And all 19 made it to the top. Although the group mainly consisted of experienced hikers, many were above 3000m for the first time, some even visibly moved. That's (besides safe return to the valley) definitely the biggest reward for the leader. But we couldn't linger long at the top, the baptism went very quickly too, as it suddenly closed in and first drops appeared, but we descended to the hut before the worst. Well, even on the descent from hut to valley it wasn't bad, just constant light but persistent drizzle. No snow causing problems anywhere. Before the steepest part of the path to Petzeck there's a small snowfield, but no issue. Just below the summit there's anyway a small glacier, but it's flat and of course not dangerous. To Perschitzkopf the path is also completely dry, but worse marked and harder to follow, especially in the upper part on descent. In fog better avoid it. And I recommend 20-seater bus to all organized groups, not sure if 30-seater makes it up.

Due to probable trip to Petzek, interested in current conditions, if there's anything special. Snow remnants probably not problematic? Best regards to all.

Does anyone know the current conditions on Petzek?

A good month ago the summit was reachable without issues, path under feet.

On Thursday,24.8.2017 we did ascent to Petzeck. Since two-day tour was planned we started early at the trailhead. At Wangenitzseehütte we inquired about overnight, although no reservation we could stay without problems. Whole path without issues, still recommend helmet, as it gets steep in a few places. Apparently they fixed the road since last time, as it's normally drivable

It was quite okay. Only foggy in the afternoon.

Hello, I'm interested in the accuracy of the 5:30h data on the Seichenbrunn - Petzeck path marked on the forum or comparison with signs in our mountains, as I need to decide whether to check if beds in the hut are available in August/September or plan a day trip. Someone wrote in comments that the path takes 5h for someone in good condition. For me as by far the slowest team member (only one who does maybe 10 cardio activities per year) our paths marked 5:30 uphill take say 2:30-3h, downhill less, but here I'd like to confirm it won't mean actual 5+ hours for me.

Timetables are completely accurate, if you need only half the time for the path, that's exclusively your thing. Otherwise in this case the tour to Petzek is done in two (2) days.

Timetables here and abroad are for us, ordinary hikers. To Victorinox who as slowest team member beats these times by 50 percent I suggest turning to some running forum. If you're good, you're good.

I'll use this forum even though it's not necessarily the case that the mentioned peak will be the goal Does anyone know conditions towards Seichenbrunn, I mean road drivability or potential winter closures? Since I didn't find anything on Austrian sites nor oeamtc.at about closures I assume none... only doubt it's fully dry to those 1670m
