Sleme - Olševa - Repija.

Today I headed without obligations to Olševa. It was nice to see the past work; people nicely use the made trail. From Govca I descended to Govševa planina for water, then checked the logging stretch (clearing windthrow). Then I returned to Govca. At the parking lot I met friend Zvone. After a short chat I headed to the summit. Then descent to Sleme. During the descent I drew the missing markers. Nice hiking in nice weather. Best, J.

Today we visited Olševa. We park at Sv. Duh, from where we go across the border to the neighbors to the big gates and windows. On the Austrian side there is quite a bit of fallen trees, but it's passable. After yesterday's rain it's quite wet and slippery today. We continue steeply up the unmarked trail to Obel kamen, then along the ridge to Govca. We return via the lower trail past Potočka zijalka to the starting point.

Spodnje Sleme- Govca- Repija- Govca- Sleme.

A nice sunny day "pulled" me along this beautiful trail, which I usually hike in the dark. Sometimes it's nice like that, without the clock in the subconscious. On the way I chat, look around the wider area. Yesterday I chatted with foresters who decided to continue the work. So I used most of the day for a hike around Olševa, the trail is very nicely "trodden", you can see that quite a lot of people train and also do K-24. There are also many other hikers.

Hi, what's the trail like from Sv. Duh to Govca. Are there any more difficult sections or is it nicely normally passable?

The trail is normally passable, some sections are secured with wire rope, but not exactly precipitous, if that fear exists.

Good luck and stay safe,
Ben

Thanks for the reply,
exposure isn't really an issue, climbing is more of a problem.
Best regards!

Hi!
Does anyone know what the current path to Olševa is like? Is there any snow up there, do you need microspikes?

Also, which path to the top is the easiest?

Best regards

manja 756. Snow, melts quickly, so it changes from day to day, because of that it's very wet. Early morning, if there was a cold night, there can be some hard bits. Paths aren't too demanding. But not without caution on certain parts; actually I can speak for the lower ridge path, Olševa, because I've been working on that path for a few days now. Microspikes also aren't so heavy that they'd hinder you on the path, even if they stay in the backpack. Best. J.
Digging the connection (second time)1
made connection from vlaka, the first was destroyed by foresters who after two months started work again, we cooperated )2
Some leveling on the trail above vlaka (filled the hole from the stump)3
Trail connection to vlaka (when hiking from Olševa)4
I slightly widened the narrow path5

Easier-safe new path7
The weight of snow felled some spruces that hung high above the path after windthrow, so I sawed them8
New path without rocky stones9
Some I couldn't dig in unfrozen ground, did it after snowfall, first cleared the snow10
When I cleared the snow I started digging11
Here too first snow then earthworks12

Today up from Sleme across the whole ridge and back. Weather as perfect as it gets, few visitors, fantastic views. Path unrecognizable in the middle section. Praise to Janez for the effort on the path and to the markers. Timber still being hauled down, even today the chainsaws were howling.

I have just one question. I'm wondering if the path from Sv. Duha church to the big gates is marked and from there onwards to Obel kamen, or if it's hard to follow?

Thanks for the answer.

Path from Sv.Duha to gates not marked, otherwise there's a followable path to gates that branches left a bit below Potočka zijalka. From gates to Obel kamen it's a bit wilder but with some ingenuity and orientation no big problem, little path gets lost several times due to fallen trees.

Hello,
has anyone been to Olševa in the last few days, what are the conditions? Which path do you recommend?
Thanks for the reply.

Last year corona stopped me from finishing the work on Olševa, which was getting on my "nerves". It bothered me for years that the "pole" with signs was lying 20m below the saddle. I managed to haul it back up the slope. Dug a deep hole and firmly buried the "pole" attached the direction sign. One was missing, which was removed, last year lying in the bushes. Dug through snow but didn't find it. Since I had a long day ahead on the ridge with "heavy" mechanization, I also dug and widened narrow spots on the path. Since I also summited Govc, there I straightened the direction sign a bit. Checked the path towards Kumr too.
I started below the bivouac1
Still some snow in Mrzli dol2
It got stuck here3
Good that it is not lower4
The main work is behind me.5
Deep enough, old and new hole.6
now it won't tip over7
8
That's how I like it.9
this way it will be easier to choose the right direction10
Also a few meters to the east11
Safer and less panic for someone12
Widened trail13
In June I still hadn't cleared and removed the snow. Didn't find the sign14
Still some work for the motorbike15
Dug up and slightly beautified the path, removed dangerous barbed wire16
Plenty of water17
