Tomorrow we're setting off and we're interested in the conditions, are the paths "trodden" or not? Lp

In a week we're heading to savinja saddle, wonder if crampons are needed if going up from okrešelj?

To the Savinja spring the path is very varied because there are quite a few avalanches and great attention is needed, I went with crampons and no problems, the worst is just before you get above the waterfall where the first steps are of course now under a lot of snow, from the spring onwards 30cm powder and a bit trodden but good step, further to Sav. saddle just one track how far I don't know, see picture. Regards and happy trails

yesterday there were 2 mountaineers around there! they turned to the Turkish gully-Turkish mountain direction! they said from Okrešelj to the gully it sinks a bit then packed snow! recommended with crampons otherwise barely without them! so on windward sides snow is packed! on lee sides wind-packed a bit less!

This Thursday we're heading to the saddle and on to Rinke or to Turski gully-Rinke-saddle like that, so thanks for the info.

Yesterday 18.2.08 we went through Turkish gully to Turkish mountain. To the mountaineers' hut in Logarska you can drive by car, but further the path is closed with a chain. From the waterfall to Okrešelj is a nice path, no winter gear needed. On the way to Turkish gully soft snow that was sinking a lot, so we used snowshoes. Path through Turkish gully REQUIRES winter gear. Snow is frozen. At the saddle above Turkish gully wind blowing at around 100 km/h, temperature close to -20°C. We continued towards Turkish but turned back some 150 m because avalanche risk too high. Day very nice, just cold and windy. regards Nejc

Hm. Turkish mountain over gully? Would like to hear from local mountaineers what forecast for this weekend ahead. I believe Saturday better than Sunday. For us coming from Croatia Sunday is nice. What do you locals say? Advice?

If Sunday just cloudy no precipitation you can't go wrong with Turkish Mountain.

Went through there 07.03.09 and put crampons on under waterfall. Yes, full winter gear highly recommended. Good luck!

I'm just curious about current conditions on this path? I know [they're] wintry and dangerous if anyone was there these days by chance, describe briefly tomorrow heading to this path, maybe further depending on mood

Well, I'll write myself how it was the path is demanding especially in the afternoon, when the snow is already well soaked! I got to Okrešelj just with poles and good boots. But that doesn't mean others don't need gear, bring it along, conditions change from hour to hour. Most demanding/dangerous just before getting above the waterfall, last ascent on wooden steps dangerous because wall crumbling and rocks of various sizes falling on path (helmet MANDATORY). Then further slip risk, walking on scree... Won't babble more, if going be careful Lp, Jure

I'm wondering if the road to parking under Rinka is open yet? Can you drive a car there? And how far does the snow reach? Thanks for reply! lp
