We've been saying year after year that we'll go to Macesnovec when the larches glow, or nothing at all. But year after year we postponed it so long that in the end there was really nothing, because they shed before... . So this year we just went, even though the larches are still green... Because hand on heart, the golden larches aren't the most beautiful thing Macesnovec offers, the views are even nicer... and the experience of solitude just a stone's throw from the path to more "prestigious" peaks that get much more visitors... On Thursday morning in Kot was unexpectedly very lively contrary to expectations, but to our joy everyone above the spring continued on the marked path one after another, we turned left onto the unmarked but nicely trodden and easily followable trail. From there on we only met locals... . Due to the northern approach, the path in this time is in shade almost to the top in the morning, so somewhat damp and a bit slippery in places, but with a bit more caution unproblematic. But we noticed that nature has started to add a little yellow to the green color of the larches bit by bit... :) A tip for possible photography enthusiasts who would like to combine a trip to Macesnovec with a photo session in a month or so. Early hour won't be golden hour in this case. The larches will be golden, but they won't glow properly early, except right after the summit, because the sun needs to shine on them for that noble shine...

Gita, you've nicely presented Macesnovec to us, interesting photos, but in summer we still missed your good flower photos in the What flower is this? section?

Thanks to both, @zlatica, next year I'll be more "diligent" with flowers too , I admit that catching animals in the lens is a bigger challenge for me...

Well, another "tick" on the wishlist...I wake up in Kot and despite the day not promising, with my roommate we venture onto the eternally wet and slippery path through Kot. A little above the spring where they warn about cleanliness , we turn onto the unmarked but well visible path. Fog still persists, but nevertheless nature showed fairy-tale faces, shyly hiding "behind" the mists and yes, it's true that the hidden is more attractive than all the visible ...A little before the summit where the path turns to the other side of the ridge, I unexpectedly turn to my colleague and literally shout , hahahaha, there from the fog the highest Martuljek beauties were peeking again...view, sight, picture worth a scream ...it just carried me to the top, and you could only hear click, click, it didn't last long...balm for the soul and without problems we descended into the fairy-tale larch, misty land. Descent on the marked carefully, then to the deserved hot drink , hehe Saturday, 08.10.016

No worry about the path, it's ok, checked today. Often in summer it's much wetter and damper than today.

Just the right day and mountain for this time of year. Mrki has said the essentials about the path.

I had long postponed the hike to Macesnovec, although not a two-thousander, this year I finally decided to visit it right when it's most beautiful with its larches. From Kot with my daughter we started on the marked path to Stanič hut. After less than an hour of walking about 50m from the stream (keep clean) we turned left to pathless terrain and enjoyed photographing for another 3 hours in nice weather. After almost one hour of enjoyment on top we reluctantly decided for descent to the valley.

It's nice now to survey from such a viewpoint all the two-thousanders you've managed to visit, right. Congrats on the feat!

Yes, you kinda wonder if it's really possible that you've climbed all the peaks you see around you. When I sometimes have younger folks around I show and tell them something. Some are very interested and I've noticed conquering two-thousanders in Slovenia has increased a lot. Those look and listen very enthusiastically but to some it's not clear at all. I tell them it's the only thing they can't forbid us yet in our oasis of peace. Once you're hooked you can't go back! Regards.

Mainly because of the views this peak offers, I'm visiting it again today. The path to Kot is nicely groomed, no big holes. In the morning at half past seven, my car was the only one, but when I returned there was another one. The path to the spring is dry, except a few meters below it it's icy. The scree is also snow-free, but when the path turns to the north side, there is 1-2 cm snow on it to the top, but due to high temperatures not frozen. I stayed on the top more than one hour, the wind was blowing just right so not too hot. I returned the same path because there is no other.

On the path only one more snowfield in the gully, which can be bypassed below and above. At current temperatures snow already soft in the morning too, so relatively easy to cross. Today a heat thunderstorm before noon, mugginess accordingly.
