Today nice hike to Macesnovec. The path itself without specialties, except the steepness that doesn't let up to the top. Views wonderful, hikers none, except us two. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

In the morning driving to Kot first a little waiting on the road while they loaded logs, a bit later final obstacle, spruce across the road. The wind not only blew away quite a few needles from the larches, it also felled trees. As if it wasn't meant for us to reach Macesnovec. And there was fog over the valley too. But everything resolved. We parked a bit lower, walked a bit longer. The fog cleared later too.

Leaves on some places along the path so much that we were wading through them. It reached our knees, we really laughed.
At the top autumn fairy tale, as views reached far. Air clarity reached to the snow-covered Austrian mountains.

It was worth after thirteen years back to this summit, and probably not the last time. You dream about such views for a long timenasmeh

Today first time to Macesnovec. Excellent choice for a hot summer day. Quite a lot of time we walked in the shade. In the morning a bit slippery to the spring, on the way back that part of the path was sunlit and completely different situation. Unmarked part of the path nicely followable, locally quite steep and also exposed. Views already on the way and of course from the top fantastic. Really one of the very nice viewpoints in the Julian Alps - to the mountains and the valley. At the start of the hike met two who were already returning and another two when we were back at the parking. There quite some cars nasmeh

So close to my home is Macesnovec, yet last Saturday I was there for the first time. That too was more by chance that we went there. But I don't regret it. Surely not the last time at this wonderful viewpoint.

In hope of sunshine, my friend and I head to Kot. Not very friendly weather and slippery rocks took our will. A bit below the summit, we were greeted by what most of us hike mountains for. Views to fall into the valley, sea below us and warm weather.
super hike, only the rocks to the spring are always slippery so caution is advised.

Pleasant trip to the summit that I still missed in the ridge Macesnovec - Rjavina. No specialties on the path, easy to follow all the way to the top. Views already during ascent excellent, from the top oh and ah, even more so because the weather favored me too. nasmeh

Today (Tuesday, 29 September) to Macesnovec and back. If it weren't all still green below, up there I'd believe it's real winter. Snow starts at the end of the scree (at altitude around 1550m), a bit before the shoulder named Stan. At first - right in the steepest parts of the path - little of it, on the other side of the gully it already reaches the edge of the boot. Towards the top it broke through my knees several times among the bushes, actually snow nowhere more than 20 cm.

The trail of course not trodden, in the steep part between Stan and the gully with little snow terribly slippery. Higher up the footsteps held, but among the bushes I missed the path two or three times by a few meters and had to return.

At the top views divine! Above 2000m snowy winter, below in the valley merry sun and green grass. Hooray!

On descent especially in the lower part of the steep forest it went a bit slower. Didn't need ice axe, didn't have crampons (but they would have helped at least for morale in steep forest if in backpack), forgot gaiters at home and needed them. The hooks on the trouser legs helped a lot, which I hooked to the laces so pants were tight to the boot. Thus I successfully prevented snow from getting into the boots. Three-season Scarpa boots were soaked through due to south snow.

And a curiosity: at the well-known spring Pri studencu there's inscription on stone "Keep clean". Diligent editors of the foreign navigation app I use named the spring on the map "Drži čistočo" velik nasmeh

It was a nice day, actually afternoon.

Hello, I'm wondering if the path to Macesnovec is suitable for a dog that's used to hiking in the mountains.
Thanks for answers.

My little dog (parson russell) would go without trouble, she stayed home due to old age. Check my post higher up, there's a link to the blog and photo album where you'll see the path well from start to summit.

Road to Kot ok, at start no one, path to Macesnovec in one gully has snow, can go carefully over or lower. Steep path, higher up chamois can trigger stone. At summit sit longer and observe.
