So close to my home is Macesnovec, yet last Saturday I was there for the first time. That too was more by chance that we went there. But I don't regret it. Surely not the last time at this wonderful viewpoint. Short video from the ascent and views from the top: Macesnovec, 10.8.2019 Safe steps in our mountains and happy.

Today (Tuesday, 29 September) to Macesnovec and back. If it weren't all still green below, up there I'd believe it's real winter. Snow starts at the end of the scree (at altitude around 1550m), a bit before the shoulder named Stan. At first - right in the steepest parts of the path - little of it, on the other side of the gully it already reaches the edge of the boot. Towards the top it broke through my knees several times among the bushes, actually snow nowhere more than 20 cm. The trail of course not trodden, in the steep part between Stan and the gully with little snow terribly slippery. Higher up the footsteps held, but among the bushes I missed the path two or three times by a few meters and had to return. At the top views divine! Above 2000m snowy winter, below in the valley merry sun and green grass. Hooray! On descent especially in the lower part of the steep forest it went a bit slower. Didn't need ice axe, didn't have crampons (but they would have helped at least for morale in steep forest if in backpack), forgot gaiters at home and needed them. The hooks on the trouser legs helped a lot, which I hooked to the laces so pants were tight to the boot. Thus I successfully prevented snow from getting into the boots. Three-season Scarpa boots were soaked through due to south snow. And a curiosity: at the well-known spring Pri studencu there's inscription on stone "Keep clean". Diligent editors of the foreign navigation app I use named the spring on the map "Drži čistočo" It was a nice day, actually afternoon.

Hello, I'm wondering if the path to Macesnovec is suitable for a dog that's used to hiking in the mountains. Thanks for answers.

My little dog (parson russell) would go without trouble, she stayed home due to old age. Check my post higher up, there's a link to the blog and photo album where you'll see the path well from start to summit.

Road to Kot ok, at start no one, path to Macesnovec in one gully has snow, can go carefully over or lower. Steep path, higher up chamois can trigger stone. At summit sit longer and observe.
