Ledinski vrh 2108m

Print
robi1424. 07. 2013 18:28:35
Start at 7.00 below Rinka.
The original plan was to conquer Rinka via climbing route, but due to the weather I decided to do the Ledinska triple (Ledinski vrh, Babe and Storžek).
To Babe via the easier Austrian path, then to Ledinski vrh; for the end I wanted the Storžek summit, but I didn't find the path to the top, which later proved good as a thunderstorm caught me just before Okrešlj...

The path to both peaks is without special features, the snow tongue in Mrzli dol is great for fast descent to Okrešlj. velik nasmeh

Between Mala and Štajerska Rinka, the Rinka waterfall has its smaller brother... Winter was really rich with snow... mežikanje

Mornings are already cooler, afternoons are warming up again and it was quite hot on the return. We spiced up the otherwise easy path to Ledinski vrh with ascent via Žrelo and descent along Slovenska pot. Despite full parking lot, no big crowds in this direction. There's still a large snow tongue below the entry to Žrelo that needs to be crossed. No issues today, snow was slightly softened in the early forenoon, with grass blades and rocks providing some grip. Probably won't melt it away this year. Path through Žrelo is fully passable, same for Slovenska. How to put it: they do their best on the paths. But when nature takes its course, not much help. Helmet definitely not superfluous here, rocks flying bit by bit.
nicely arranged parking lot, full today. Let the cars enjoy the views a bit more1

Steeeeeep.... Not that bad. At all4
In Žrel, the cables are a bit poorer, but they fully serve the purpose.5
Towards the exit from Žrel.6
Lots of choices on the Ledine, still missing some, e.g. Ledinski vrh.7
Personal hut a little further from the Ledine.8
Ledinski vrh, neighbours Baba and Storžek.9
In front Strožek (tomorrow pics from there), Mrzla gora behind.10

Nice pics, Lidija. Slovenska looks really tough, but actually nicely tame and well secured climbing path.

On Saturday 7.9. - Rinka-Okrešelj-Savinjsko sedlo-Jezersko sedlo-Ledinski vrh. Very well marked path led me under impressive walls of Planjava, Brana, Turska Gora, Rinka and Mrzla gora (could say one of beautiful hearts of KSA range) along steeply rising trail - first through low bushes and some mighty avalanche slabs - to Savinjsko sedlo, over short scree and final steeper part to Jezersko sedlo and to today's goal - Ledinski vrh; quite some elevation to do, path otherwise extremely nice and fairly safe even for us ordinary mortals. Warm autumn rays pierced morning fogs over beautiful peaks at start, in walls of Turski žleb heard calls of hidden brave climbers in mist, meanwhile climbers under Mrzla gora had better visibility. At fork to Mrzla gora met two young guys happily quick-stepping back from early summit of that majestic peak, with two new hiker friends continued to both saddles. Weather summer-like favorable, so many hikers to Ledinski vrh mostly from Jezerska side; sadly fog hid great views just at summit arrival, then luckily cleared fast; unique beauty of Kamnik-Savinja Alps excited and enriched body and soul for later memories, also through camera lens. And does anyone perhaps know what the conditions are from the Jezerska side to Ledinski vrh?

On Saturday the passage through Žrelo was a bit scratchy, the rest surprisingly good for skis, for walkers tiring because snow over waist in places, today already second day of thaw in our valley so conditions totally different by end of the week, if some frost can be ideal for crampons.

So let's revive this thread after a long time and write something about the paths above Jezersko (quite interesting that in the recent nice days no one has written anything about conditions on this side yet). So, yesterday my buddy and I were on Ledinski vrh, from Jezersko through Žrelo. The hike is quite demanding, but very beautiful, so I can only recommend it.
Regarding conditions: below Žrelo there's terribly much avalanche debris. It must have avalanched nicely up here ... Žrelo itself was quite nice in the morning, hard and nicely passable. On the way back it was a bit more annoying, as especially on the flatter section a nice wet spot formed, so had to watch out a bit. But it went. The upper part was a bit trickier, snow holds only in places, elsewhere it sinks in quite a bit. So we mostly looked for slabs to progress well, sinking nicely in between. Tiring. The final climb was already in the sun and thus quite mushy. So we had quite varied conditions ... but all manageable and the tour doable. Also - ahead of us there was already a track from Ledine to Ledinski vrh, which the guy before us pulled quite straight, so it was steeply in many places. We made a track now also over nicer passages.
And one more very welcome info - road drivable to Anclja, where there's parking (either right by the farm or on the slope before it) for ca. 10 cars. Actually drivable a bit further (to first turnoff to Češka koča), but no parking spots there, so park at Anclja. Also on Jezersko ice damage visible, but no special passability issues.

10.6. start below Rinka Waterfall, to Okrešelj, past the memorial below Turska gora, where police memorial ceremony was, then on to Savinjsko sedlo. Summer weather, still lots of snow towards Savinjsko sedlo, but no issues, walking without winter gear. Continued to Jezersko sedlo and then to Ledinski Peak. Phenomenal views, lots of snow under north faces, but softened on sunny spots and melting fast. Ledinski Peak snow-free. Return to valley quick, sliding on soft snow without much danger. Nice tour.

On the path from Jezersko side no specialties. Before entering Slovensko there's a step and a half of snowfield, which of course no issue. Via ferrata aids on path ok. Return via Lovska path always impresses me again. Really good choice for descent to valley.
At the top of Slovenska pot (entrance if descending to the valley along it).1
