@Saša: Is the road to Vrata already repaired? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the info Saša.
Based on my experience and what read I'll rather postpone the trip a bit...will have to find something lower.

Road to Vrata repaired and drivable no issues. Snow melting very fast and at this rate Sovatna will be snow-free soon.

best all, Saša

Without winter gear no way to summits above Kriški Podi. Upper part of Sovatna snowy long time. More on conditions in link below.

Some pics from Saturday ramble on Kriški Podi.
Start at seven from Zadnjica was (despite hot day) early enough most ascent to Lower Kriško Lake still in shade. Descent to valley much hotter.
View towards the goal.1
The forest path is enlivened by poles supporting rocks.2
View into the valley.3
With every step it becomes more interesting.4
There are more and more flowers too.5
Wonderful edelweiss.6
A little closer.7
And we're already at the lower lake.8
The hut is already visible too.9
And increasingly beautiful views10

If going from Zadnjica, where can you park, by the main road or can you drive into the valley, how far?
Thanks for info.

Right after turning into the valley there's a parking lot, about 200 to 300 m from the road to Vršič.

This week I plan to go up from Zadnjica for the first time, wondering if I need a helmet.

No, you don't need a helmet to the hut on Kriški Meadows.

On Monday I used the day for a quick trip from Trenta valley to Pogačnik Hut on Kriški Meadows. The day was nice, pity the top was trapped in cold fog with quite some wind. The path is nice, except for one shorter bit under the summit fully dry. But already quite hot - since the descent drags, I recommend earlier morning hours for the ascent (I started at 6, and descent already pretty warm).
beginning of quite an idyllic path1
Snapshot from the path - one of the smaller screes on the path2
Obligatory mini stop on the path - viewing the surroundings3
The upper part of the path mostly offers a beautiful view of the Trenta valley.4
The weather towards the top was rather poor - slightly exposed crossing.5
6
The terrain towards the top becomes increasingly scree-covered.7
The Lower Kriško Lake still almost completely frozen.8
Path from the lower lake towards Pogačnikov dom.9
The only larger snow patch on the path - crossing.10
The mountain range above Zadnjica is almost proverbially known for chamois.11
A very curious female followed us for a good part of the descent.12
Snapshot from the return - lower part of the path.13

But that doesn't count if you have eight-legged drive big grin

Yesterday it was more half-half. Sometimes the two-legger pulled eight legs, other times the eight-legger pulled the two-legger :P

Gofra, we met on the path, but we started much later and when we got to the hut the cloud barely clung to Razor, otherwise we sunned ourselves all the way. Beautiful path, wonderful views. The path is easy but long, especially downhill, you never seem to reach the end smile

Like last year, this year I also set off to the beautiful Kriški Podi and stayed twice at Pogačnik Hut, which deserves all praise!
On Friday I climbed from Vrata over Sovatna to the hut, in the afternoon also to Planja. Yesterday to Dolkova špica and Križ and today back over Sovatna to Vrata.
Weather was changeable on Friday and yesterday, today beautiful, sunny. The paths I walked on are BP. Tons of mountain visitors, so yesterday at Pogačnik Hut quite crowded and tight with beds. But girls and guys from staff handled it all, so once again: hats offnasmehnasmehnasmeh
And my little joy too – Planja was my 100th conquered (different) two-thousandernasmehcool
