Kriška gora

We were yesterday at the hut on Kriška Gora in the afternoon hours.

Trail 'Gozd - Koča na Kriški gori (easy path)' at the start has lots of mud, but about 500m to the hut there is trampled/icy snow.

Recommend snowshoes or crampons for descent..

In the article Sunday's (10.3.2014) photos of Kriška gora. The path is really quite muddy at the beginning, below the summit a slippery slope ;. The kids (6 and 7 years) walked it easily too; they were muddy up to their waists mežikanje

and excited about skiing without skis, with mountaineering boots and trekking poles mežikanje

Today's Kriška gora was a super hike nasmeh

. Weather changeable: sun, rain, clouds, no clouds, almost whatever you wished mežikanje

. Below at Gozd village the path is quite torn up and muddy, at the top the hut is open.

On a nice sunny afternoon to Kriška gora.

On the Gozdna path up. This path is not suitable in winter due to avalanches.

Valley fog, the little peaks of the Julians were visible.

Yesterday out of the valley fog into the sun on Kriška gora. Up from Gozd village via the so-called Sheep unmarked path. Currently the path is safe because little snow. The little path is trampled and not icy at all. At the hut quite some hikers. Even a paraglider was among them. Down the usual marked path. I put on microspikes for down, but not necessary, no ice and snow-free sections in between.

Currently safe, because there is not too much snow.

The valley however is still quite foggy.

Tolsti vrh will remain for another time.

The village name in this form (missing d) exists only in local dialect, otherwise it's called Gozd. Wonderful pictures, no hard feelings. mežikanje

Hello. Wondering if anyone was on Kriška gora and what conditions are.. are crampons needed? Thanks a lot.

Hi, I was on Kriška gora and Tolsti vrh on Sunday. Some snow in places, but doable without crampons. The ridge to Tolsti vrh is almost bare. Good luck

Today on a sunny forenoon escape to winter Kriška gora. Little snow in Gozd village. On the marked path snow starts soon and more and more of it. Path is trampled, no crampons needed. Snow avalanching from spruces in places. Nice - finally real winter vibe. At the hut full of hikers. Enjoying the warm winter sun.

Roughly end of February I always go to Kriška gora. From the start of the cables small crampons needed now, as it's icy.

On Sunday family style up the steeper to the hut and back the less steep.
At the hut goats, sheep and donkeys delight kids now.
For the end of the trip we went to see the bear under Stol.

Today to the sun on Kriška gora. Path ok. Already above village at water tank on snow-covered well trodden path to hut not icy. Still better use crampons at least downhill. Lots of visitors. Path to Tolsti vrh has track.

The parking lot at the church was already full very early.

The snowy path starts at the water reservoir above the village of Gozd.

At the fixed ropes there is no ice on the path.

On penultimate day of old year. Path quickly trodden as many visitors daily to hut. Further to Tolsti vrh not many tracks. Nice on Kriška gora, winter idyll everywhere. Up easy path, down steep made loop
with extension. nasmeh

First only to Kriška, always return via it. Nice goodbye old year, hope new one as eventful and interesting, never know... nasmeh
