Hi. Has anyone been to Krim these days? Is there still any snow up there, or how much? Thanks

He he, thx. Yesterday it wasn't working on my home computer, so I thought the problem was with the camera. On the work computer it works

I was on Krim this Saturday. Conditions are excellent, no snow. Only I have to criticize the caretakers of this hut. Two days ago I phoned their PD president to reserve sleeping. When I finally arrived on Krim after 5 conquered peaks, I ordered lunch, drinks, coffee and also told the boy who served me that I would sleep there too, and he said nothing. After about 40 min. the female caretaker looked strangely at me, why I was drinking coffee so long, and then I tell her I'm in no hurry, I've done 6 peaks today and I'll sleep here now. She what? What sleeping? You can't sleep here, at least not now. I call their president who promised me sleeping and he says: oh, I completely forgot about you.... and now what??? Then the main caretaker angrily at me: why didn't you call me? I had enough and then drove to Lubnik near Škofja Loka and there slept very nicely, got excellent breakfast and staff very friendly.... I ADVISE AGAINST VISITING KRIM! I won't go there for a long time. Had enough of them, advise against visiting, better go to Lubnik or elsewhere. Coffee on Krim isn't anything special either..... Uroš

I don't want to be a smartass. But an order through multiple hands is really often a disaster, same as the attitude toward guests in many places. Well, not everyone is suited for caretakers or innkeepers.

I always call directly and reserve. But no need, if not all goes smoothly, to immediately spit on the caretaking staff.

My experiences with the current caretakers at Krim are also bad. First, they have the wrong opening hours posted on the website and actually close an hour earlier. Second, in winter, on a cold night at -15º C they rudely dismiss you and lock the door right in front of your nose. Honestly, we arrived up there unknowingly after the official hut closing time (see previous point) and just wanted to quickly change clothes. But for some it's already too hard to greet or return a greeting, let alone "normally" explain that unfortunately they're closing for today. The result would be the same, but without the bitter aftertaste. So the above story about sleeping doesn't surprise me at all.

Of course you have to complain too, if they promise you sleeping, then you arrive there, have a very long way behind you, order food and drink and say you'll also overnight, no reaction, then when it's time to go to sleep, such an effect! I was very very disappointed. Already when I ordered food and drink and said I'd also stay overnight, that boy should have informed me right away, hey that won't go..... not let you nicely spend, eat and drink, rest, since you hope you'll go to sleep after, then such a reaction and the caretaker's high tone, why didn't you call me? Yeah if you can't agree among yourselves, that's not my problem....

Oh poor Uroš1, his pacifier fell out of his mouth and mommy forgot to tell the babysitter to change his diaper, now he's yelling like a calf. Average hikers are a bit tougher and more patient. If it doesn't work first time, we repeat or wait for better conditions. Really not everyone is suitable for caretaker, but obviously not for mountaineer either. Personally I'm fully satisfied with the staff at the hut on Krim, true I haven't been so tired yet that I had to sleep there. And a tip for the future: when you were already in the valley you should have rather turned to some 4 or 5 star hotel in Ljubljana, where they'd surely serve you a nicer bed than in a remote mountain hut, and you wouldn't have to drag your totally exhausted and tired self to another similar hill. Yuck-yuck, some really can't manage.

UROS1 - big lover of nature and mountains, vias ferratas, mighty mountains and sports in general (that's what it says in your profile), good thing you're so tired after 5 conquered peaks (assuming all around 1000m - at least as much as I know the area around Krim) you managed to return to the valley, drive to Škofja Loka (assuming), do another tough ascent all the way to the Hut on Lubnik and I hope before nightfall completely exhausted fell asleep on a soft mattress. If you weren't a lover of mighty mountains and vias ferratas, you probably wouldn't have made it. P.s. did you put the pacifier in your mouth yourself before sleep, or did the babysitter help. You say you won't be on Krim for a long time ... thank God!!!

The day before yesterday I went to Krim via the road from Rakitna. The atmosphere was quite stormy. Guests at the hut were mostly cyclists.

Are the paths from Strahomer (via Kramarca and Strmec) trodden? In which direction is it more recommended to make a loop in winter conditions?

Both paths are usually trodden right away, especially on weekends. Which one up and which one down is completely up to personal preferences. Personally when I go (winter or summer), I prefer Kramarca up and Strmec down.
