Kredarica

One can go anywhere if the mountaineer is mature enough and has appropriate gear for the conditions currently prevailing in the mountains.

OF COURSE !! I have all the gear, helmet, crampons
ice axe and even trojčka... Grown up, say, also...? But I don't like trudging through whole snow... that's why I wonder if anyone went up... what's the path like and how much snow. Good luck!!

The road to Krma is drivable to the garages, snow is only a few cm. Today about 10 at Kredarica, one I know skied approx. to half the path, lower there is too little snow. Tomorrow strong SW wind up to 70 km/h forecast so the track will probably be drifted over.

Thanks a lot Igor, exactly the answer I wanted. Where do you recommend tomorrow above 1900 for sun?? Is it smarter to be somewhere lower due to wind, I checked weather not as promising as today. Thanks again. Don't know if there is less snow in Karavanke? In Kamnik Alps not much, at least at Kamniško sedlo...

None wanted to go with me, so I went alone. Around 6.30 it was already dawn in Krma. Little snow, through Bukovje almost none, only at Pleša enough for snowy trail. I notice ski tracks too, but bushes not covered. I walk and soon at Mali polje, higher warm sun shines, but I start hiccuping oddly. They say hiccups come when someone gossips about you, but why me. Drinking water helps apparently, but I don't drink water, and not yet at usual spot, so I endure hiccups. Under Arnova glava sun burns mercilessly, I drop pack on rock and drink that "quick one". Hiccups stop instantly, but now new problem. Track veers left to usual ski trail. No choice, put on gaiters and on along path. No sense describing conditions now, no one will follow in next days, next time totally different. Before Kredarica Janez is clearing snow, making space for the other. Milan arrives from somewhere, we chat a bit. Nice job they have, while some stew their brains in foggy valley, they are in the sun waiting for virtuous visitors, who now in winter rarely come up. Meantime Irena calls, whom I've also gone on tours with sometimes. She says she lost a glove yesterday below Kalvarija, I promise if I find it I'll notify her, but I didn't. Hard to part from old friends, but I go. Down the summer path because winter one is all torn up, I like pure whiteness. Glove, as I said, not found, still sit a bit below Kalvarija, then to shady Krma and over Vršič home. On the way Ksena explains hiccup secret and offers herself for some tour we'll surely do, just more snow needed over those Šentflorjanske valleys.

Great, Igor! You caught one of the nicest days in compact frontal cloud masses. Gotta go up for skiing to be at least once this year at Kredarica.nasmeh
The nicest is to stop sometime during the tour, sit when time stops in the mountains.

My answer wasn't really concrete because I didn't go there then. But it was principled, as someone can hike snowy terrain too if they have suitable equipment (skis, snowshoes) and move on familiar terrain, observing rules for moving in snow conditions. Through Krma to Kredarica decades ago they climbed through 1m and more thick snow blanket just by trudging. Ascent from Radovna took all day till night, snow up to the arms. All this is described in Nejc Zaplotnik's book, who exhausted from effort woke the next day on Kredarica under the table, covered with some JLA blanket and spotted a shaggy black critter (German Shepherd) curiously staring at him.
