I'm thinking of going to Komna tomorrow, but I'm a bit worried about avalanche danger. Does anyone know what the latest conditions on the trail are?
Thanks for any information!

Before this last snowfall (last Monday) there was no snow to the 30th bend at all, a bit more only before Peklo. Nothing dramatic, but I don't know what happened after. I think it'll be safe, suggest calling the hutkeeper in the morning. Up there will be New Year's, so people will rush there anyway.

Thanks for the answer!
The path is super trodden, despite that small crampons are quite handy. Snow at the hut is about 70-80 cm.

Although no sun at 1500 m, we still had a super winter day!

Happy 2014!

The path to the Komna hut itself is not dangerous due to avalanches, there was no snowing in the last days, if you check the last post from @Ajče, she says the path is well trodden, so to the Komna hut there shouldn't be problems. Then up on Komna pasture, best ask the hut keepers ...nasmeh

Tomorrow I plan to go to Komna. If anyone was up there, I'm curious how trodden the path is, if it breaks through, are crampons needed... Any advice welcome. Thanks for the reply.

I have another question.
I "know" Komna only in summer time and haven't visited in winter conditions yet. I'm kind of embarrassed, it's not my nearby destination.

Question: what do tour experts recommend that's not too dangerous for avalanches and cliffs. With son we've skied only in KSA easier routes (e.g.:Savinsko sedlo-Okrešelj...etc.).
Thanks for advice and tips.
Good luck.

Anyone have info how the parking at the waterfall is? If even more about the path itself to Komna even better. Thanks!

Today I visited Dom na Komni. Parking was packed full in the morning (due to snow capacity greatly reduced - if you have the will, you can shovel a spot velik nasmeh). The path itself was well trodden, morning still nicely frozen, afternoon started breaking through in lower third.

On Sunday I would go to Komna. Given the forecasted temperatures and that I have no snowshoes, I'm curious about how it will be with breaking the trail. Thanks in advance

Komna is always well trodden and frozen solid. Despite possible thaw it won't sink more than that.

Some snapshots from Komna, today ski-snowshoe-hiking paradise. Path nicely trodden, even on the way back didn't sink too much, track firm to the hut under Bogatin, beach in front of the hut full. Numerous tracks led to nearby peaks and it was warm for short sleeves.

Yesterday on Komna, snow starts above 1100m and doesn't sink if you stick to the path...otherwise quite a lot of fallen trees and some small "detours" needed..nasmehnasmeh

We didn't know where to go, so we chose Komna. Nicer in the mountains can't be than it was today. Started from Savica, the path itself is ok, a bit of ice, but it can be bypassed. Keeper very friendly, also his little dog very happy about the visit of our white Tiger. Starting back to the valley and at the crossroads for Black Lake we quickly decide and turn towards it. We had gear with us, but didn't need it. Snow held very well, nothing sank. Past the frozen lake, then descent over Komarča to the valley. The path was snow-free, and the sun warmed nicely.nasmeh
