Kalški greben, Kalška gora, Mokrica

Today walked the second part of the extended Krvavec tour with the entire Kalški ridge and Kalška mountain. Started as always from the parking lot at planina Jezerce. Through Kriška planina to Krvavec and under Veliki Zvoh to planina Dolge Njive. Pretty quickly we reached the saddle and from there to the top of Kalški ridge. From here the real action begins. First the famous notch of Kalški ridge awaits, where it goes steeply vertical along cables, then to Mali Triglav of Kalški ridge, and the cables aren't over yet. At the end we reach the junction for descent to Zoisova koča, for Dolce and for the 15-min away peak of Kalška mountain. Kalška mountain has a stamp and logbook. Back we go to Dolce. Dolce also has a cable right at the junction downward. Dolce has everything. No shortage of scree, crumbling rock sections. Need to watch the marks to not miss the path. If going first time in fog, orientation almost impossible. At the saddle I went past Vrh Korena to grassy Kompotela. Now it has a new stamp and logbook. On May 1st when I did a winter tour there, it wasn't there yet. From Kompotele descended further to Mokrica. This small neglected mountain has everything like the big ones - edelweiss, Zois bells, stamp and logbook. Back to planina Košutna, descent to planina Koren also along cables. Then past the hunting hut back to Kriška planina. Nice tour, technically not too demanding, long - ten hours of moderate hiking. For mountain hiking lovers.

Velkavrh hello! That's a real tour, congrats! You'll have to buy new mountain boots soon. Good luck!

Congratulations from my side too. I'm glad to hear Kompotela finally has a summit logbook. But I have to comment something. Everywhere you use the name Dolci, it's actually Kalce. You know, Dolci are on the other side, between Grintovec and Kočna . But did the Krvava lokev on the return via Kalce not catch your eye? Otiv - don't talk to me about mountain boots. Just today new ones again. That's what we work for.

Thanks Pastirica, I really overlooked the mistake in the text. I fixed the pictures. I don't know why I mixed that up, maybe because I have to repeat the tour via Dolci to Kočne, since I had bad weather a month ago.

Day of remembrance, which can also be spent in the mountains. The last one from the "just in case" list was crossed off today. Start Kamniška Bistrica, Žagana peč, along hunting path to marked path below Kalška gora, then over Kalce under the entire Kalški ridge to Škrbina above Dolga njiva, back along the entire Kalški ridge, then over the summit to new Škrbina and to Kalška gora. From there down, then back to hunting path and to the car, which waited for me diligently for eight hours by one of the largest boulders in Kamnik Alps. The path offers everything: some puzzles of unmarked path, which is much easier to follow uphill, downhill I helped by intentionally dragging feet and poles through leaves a few times (so the path was visible; how smart I am ). Marked path over Kalce to Škrbina and back to Kalški ridge is without special features, except that you have to descend about 200m, the path from Kalški ridge to Kalška gora offers some adrenaline, especially the descent, which is steep and exposed, with some secured sections in between. Particularly interesting is the wall we climb with cables, one of the more interesting parts I've seen lately. Even the traverse to Kalška gora is exposed, as is the descent. Not recommended in snow, but today the path was dry, those few patches didn't bother. Today was the fourth day in a row (like the previous three), warm, clear and sunny. But since it was a day of remembrance, I dedicated it to the memory of all those I loved or who meant something to me, but have left my life one way or another , even more to those I love and who are still in my life or just coming well . It was more sincere than at the cemetery or in church. Believe me.

Congratulations for the beautiful and long tour!. On All Saints' Day it's really not the only day to remember our deceased relatives, friends, acquaintances. Traditionally flowers and candles are brought to the grave, rather to the monument, but there is nothing. If a living person directs thoughts to a dear person, perhaps talks about him with the living too, this place is completely location-independent and unconditional for connection. It's important to also remember our loved ones at home sometimes and express the same harmony, affection and positive energy to them as when they were still with us.

Lidija, that was really a wonderful tour. And nice description with photos. I also think that space cannot be a limitation for contact with a dear deceased person, maybe for some it's easier that way, at the grave. Pleasant wanderings in the hills continue.

Nice, nice! Short but sweet. You two are real "wild ones". Greetings from the "benefactor" below Storžič.

Yesterday to the Kalški ridge from Kriška valley via Koren. Weather excellent, sunny, occasionally windy, temperature ideal. The path is not demanding, long but very interesting. Up to the top of Koren snow is just in patches, from there about 10m snow patches start that are mostly hard, only every 20 steps it collapses to the bottom (usually to the knee or deeper), so you have to zigzag continuously through dwarf pines to find a nice path. Recommend

Was anyone up there in the last week? How much snow is left?

On Kalški ridge we were on 30.4.2012. Started from Kokra over Dolge Njive, where there was still some snow. Most of it between dwarf pines, where we sank to knees and further , but such trifle didn't prevent us from reaching the goal. Attaching some pics.

Was up there today via Koren and down via Dolga Njiva. Path no problem, some snow here and there but no issues. No views today though.

We were two, but we also met two others, probably the same as you. Three, probably you, we saw from afar, as we strayed a bit off the marked path. Book entries were only three ahead of us that day. No crowds on Kalški Ridge really. But on December 1st last year in very nice weather I did a tour over Kokrško Saddle to Kalška Mountain and Kalški Ridge and back over Kalce and in 9.5 hours didn't meet a soul. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/104712217680046368409/albums/5681859921341681793 Happy steps forward to you too.

Kalški Ridge, Kalška Mountain, Mokrica is the title of this thread, there are some posts just with conquered Kalški Ridge, then those posts probably need to be entered under the title Kalški Ridge. Let's be more consistent when posting. LP!
