For a morning start Jerebikovec was the right choice, as the path, though steep, offers forest shade almost all the way, making walking in summer heat bearable. Today: quite a lot of visitors (locals, foreigners). Since Lojz no longer maintains the bivouac, it's in pretty poor condition. The logbook is also full and destroyed. Despite very high traffic, no one is taking care of this peak..

This bivouac was built by Toni Urbas and Lojz has nothing to do with it. Lp!

The bivouac was destroyed by lightning over 10 years ago.. then it was rebuilt from the same material. Lojz built it much earlier. Not only he himself testifies to that, but reliable sources like Planinski vestnik www.planinskivestnik.com/files/File/PV_2009_04pr.pdf ..or e.g. Mihelič's guide to the Julian Alps and other sources. From the logbook it's clear that Lojz was still renovating it in 2008 (even though he didn't reassemble it after the lightning strike)

...Let's clarify this a bit. In November 1980 Alojzij Žakelj set up the original bivouac on Jerebikovec, which lightning destroyed in November 1990. The impact force was so strong that a half-meter deep and five-meter long trench formed. Then a group of Mojstrčani came forward, who a year later, in November 1991, rebuilt the bivouac. They also used material from the previous one, the door is still original. This group was led by Toni Urbas, Lojz's friend. With advice and also work, Lojz sometimes helped him.

I think Lojz also built Stožice ...just kidding, Lojz is ACE, in his own way

Mist below, mist above. Lots of leaves on the path, roots are wet and anything can happen, good luck

Last day of 2012 on Jerebikovec (from Mojstrana) Path to first bench almost completely dry, but lots of leaves. From bench to monument path frozen, mix of leaves and some compacted snow, so much caution needed, especially on descent. Further to summit a bit more snow, path trodden. Nice sunny weather, great views from top

Has anyone been to Jerebikovec from Mojstrana after this snowfall? What are the conditions? Is the path exposed to avalanches? Best regards

Just hit the trail, everything as it should be so the body doesn't tire too much and the eyes have time to do their work. Slushy, nothing icy, views as in the pictures.

My buddy and I headed up the usual, somewhat trampled path to Jerebikovec. Snow was initially frozen, path trampled, but towards the top it got mushier and mushier underfoot than usual . The higher we went, the more wind-packed snow there was, swirling under our feet like quicksand . After arriving in Tilčev rovt, we immediately turned onto the ridge at the monument, where as a reward (as if there wasn't enough before), we broke fresh trail; about 20 min and we arrived at a really nice viewpoint. The view seems even better to me than from Jerebikovec summit. Since we had to conquer the summit itself, we turned sharply left past the wooden hut and descended back to Tilčev rovt, then the last ascent that drags on like... I won't say At the top as always beautiful views all around, only the bivouac spoils the scene, which at least in my opinion no longer serves its purpose In the wooden box since 1.1.13 there's also a new summit logbook Oh, and still as steep as last year From summit to valley straight down by shortcut, so time ratio up/down 4:1

Today Jerebikovec finally came around. Completely different conditions than previous ones, path fully frozen and icy. Crampons were just right. On the return, the lower part was already slushy. The path is really steep, but summit view rewards the effort. Stamp was in place. Thanks Parkeljc and buddy for breaking trail to the plateau edge viewpoint, truly breathtaking. Nice tour! LP
