Hello! I find it interesting that Javornik is not listed on the list of hills for this area, which is a very common and popular spot for hikers from this part. In addition, many group hikes are organized to it, the view from the tower on top is wonderful. On Saturday there will be the traditional 10th night hike, which is attended by up to 200 hikers. Start at 18:00 from Hotedršica. More information can be found on the Ekstrem club website: http://www.logatec.info/~pk-ekstrem/xxx/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Few know that when the weather is nice and visibility is good, from Javornik you can see the sea and Ljubljana at the same time. Best, Jagoda

Today it was sunny on Javornik and in the morning at the top also windy. I started the path in Lomah, descended to Črni Vrh. In the upper part there is some ice on the path, but no problem. More caution is needed when ascending to the top of the tower as it is icy.

Morning was frosty and crystal clear. So after lunch we decided to go somewhere for a view. Since days are now very short, we chose one nearby but wonderful viewpoint. We saw the lowest and highest point of our beautiful country, and also the capital Ljubljana was in the palm of the hand. Really nice. Our starting point was Kanji Dol at 897m above sea level. Path from here to hut is forest macadam (drivable).

Today I participated in the traditional hike to Javornik. Morning was very cold - at Črni Vrh -21 degrees. But the sun warmed us nicely. Real winter fairy tale, snow around 30 cm. Best Sonja

Today we decided to go to Javornik. With the car we drove to the LOME-JAVORNIK ski slope. Just above the parking there is a forest path leading towards the top. Today there was dense fog right there and only there it seems to me (Trnovski gozd, Kucelj....all in sunshine). Visibility on the almost empty ski slope extremely poor...But this wandering in fog is also a special experience...There is a huge amount of snow, trees laden...we'll return, next time in sunshine. Wondering if anyone goes with skis also on the road that turns towards Javornik before Črni vrh, if coming from Ajdovščina.

if you mean the Cenc-Strmec-hut road(6km) it's groomed since yesterday to the hut so for now still nice with skis..it's also conditionally drivable by car and probably soon torn up... Otherwise for that ski better access from Lom or ski slope or before bends (if from Ajd.) past Šajsna plain, as on descent you need to know your way or know terrain and even then have to walk two bends or trick dogs again. Ok, thanks.....you understood exactly..I meant that path because that way no need to descend to Črni vrh and drive to ski slope. LP Sabina

You can park on top of the mountain, go back 100m towards Ajdovščina and at Italian bunkers turn left and continue on forest path to Velika peč where nice view on Črni vrh, whole Julijce, Dolomites, Karavanke, Kamniške...(only last 8m steep and in snow very dangerous). Path continues past house at Čelkov vrh from top slightly right ski down to nearby valley then left again past another lonely house and follow forest track and ELECTRIC LINE which takes us to pass above Šajstna plain which we cross and continue on marks towards Javornik (past Rejca, Povharja)

I didn't understand the starting point. Do you mean drive by car to the hut?

No, the mountain top is at the chapel on the pass when we climb the road from Črni vrh

That's right.. beautiful sunny scenes and sunny views can only be best 'seen, experienced' with your own eyes.. although nice photos come out with a camera too..

After a short view of sheep at Col we drove to the hut on Javornik and then walked to the summit. It was quite foggy but not solitary. Soon we'll return there on skis if some snow falls, of course!
