Let me add my experiences with various boots. When I switched from soft (and comfortable) boots to stiffer ones - LA SPORTIVA TRANGO ALP - it felt like I had tanks up there, plus high heels; it was really an unusual feeling to walk around in them. I needed a couple of hikes to break them in; I was very satisfied with them (grip, waterproofness), but they were never truly comfortable for me. Since I now need a larger size, I retired them early, although they would have lasted a few more seasons. In short, the quality is top-notch, but the comfort is not for me, so I decided to try another brand ... So recently I got KAYLAND CROSS MOUNTAIN. They were generally praised and well-rated and supposed to be really comfortable. Well, I just couldn't break them in; tried various socks, two pairs or one, problems similar to the beginning with La Sportiva (heel, toes). Size large enough. The more serious problem was the overly long laces, which, despite double-tying them, got caught on the metal loop of the other boot, so I fell like a log, luckily on grass. OK, I'm clumsy, I told myself ... On the fourth hike with them, the laces got caught again on the highest metal loop, which this time tore off ... Luckily we only had a descent from the hut ahead and not too demanding path. What if it happened in the middle of a wall and rocks? Somehow I tied the boot and got to the valley. Immediately I filed a complaint with Kibubo and demanded money back, because I no longer trust these boots; for me, the metal loops for laces on this model are dangerous! They accepted the complaint, forwarded it to management, who forwarded it to Kayland company, and in less than a week they resolved it positively; I'll get my money back. I expected them to just replace the faulty part. Apparently they had more such complaints ... This happened to me on practically new boots (two months old) on the fourth hike! Immediately I went shopping for new ones, another brand again, maybe I'll have more luck now? LOWA CADIN MID (Promontana), currently on sale. My husband has been satisfied with this brand for years, but they always seemed too heavy to me, but this model is different - a bit lighter, high enough, just right stiff sole, but softer and comfortable upper part. Yesterday I tested them, on the first hike walked more than 6 hours in them, until then I had them on only a couple of minutes in the apartment. Result? No problems, nothing pinches or even blisters, so far I'm really satisfied! I hope this is it. And they are orange; for my size no other color was available - the colors are really cool and sell out fast. Maybe this helps someone; definitely try different brands, the right boots will be there!
