Hiking boots

These new classic crampons are totally OK! Much more depends on the boot.

I used classic crampons on (let's say) boots for all seasons. Everything worked as it should, only big toe hurt on downhill hitting the front point basket. Very painful.
So I bought winter boots with stiff sole and even stiffer cage and everything works solid, and once used to putting on it's almost as fast as automatics.

Couple info on regular crampons and regular summer boots.

Buddy with summer boots and classic crampons climbed waterfalls in Mlačci solid, of course crampons bent a bit, but ok....
Buddy also with summer boots and classic crampons no problem summited Grintavec, Rinke,...

Today I tried Grivel G10 on my Scarpa Ladakh boots, but too narrow at heel, the crampons that is. Maybe something to it that it says for boots up to 46, I have 46.5 (no need for Krplj nasmeh)) Boots all year with two socks - old school, works for now. No blisters, no cold. Anyway for Ladakh they say (Koala sport) supposedly all-year boots - leather thickness outside + inside. Anyway not planning serious winter climbs.

Tomorrow try Camp Stalker at Iglu.

Oh, K2 has -40% on all gear and today got Deuter Guide 35+ backpack for just over 80€.

As for women's gojzars, Fitwell are by far the best for me. Previously I had Scarpa and Planika, both can hide. I have one lightweight variant (Ortisei), which are ideal also for everyday walking in cold, snow and rain. If you have the chance, try them. You can see them at: FITWELL

Timgalema: any manufacturer that survives for decades on the Italian mountaineering footwear market is good - very good. Asolo is among them. The sole is Vibram, although without their yellow logo. Why? Vibram made the rubber and sole profile, but Asolo designed it themselves. Similarly with La Sportiva, which in the last decade also develops its own profiles, but they are made by Vibram. No Vibram logo here either.

As for the general quality of mountaineering footwear, it's a very delicate topic, because everyone will favor their favorite brand. Objectively, they are all more or less good, otherwise they wouldn't have so many buyers. The fact is that even in the most renowned brands, "flaws" appear due to mass production, poor control either in Asian countries or in the Balkans. However, this more or less applies exclusively to trekking/hiking/approach footwear, because those for serious mountaineering tours are still mostly made in home countries, so quality is unquestionable.

Fitwell is indeed a minor manufacturer, but they make undoubtedly excellent boots, similar to Kayland. However, they differ from the latter, as well as from Asolo, mainly in last width, as it is somewhat wider, "German", similar to Hanwag and Meindl. Scarpa also makes boots with a slightly narrower last, same as German Lowa.

In short, there's quite a lot on offer here, I could list more brand names, you need to find the right last, regardless of brand name, because they are all more or less of equal quality.

Hello, does anyone know where I could get La Sportiva Trango Alp men's boots? They don't have them at Iglu... maybe some shop near the border (AUT, IT)?

a4si: You can get Trango Alp at Alp Station (Montura) shop in Tarvisio, otherwise you can order it at Iglu sports stores, they'll order it, just question of waiting time. The last is identical to Trango S Evo model, locally GRS Rateče has it, otherwise it's very popular in central Alps among GV.

With these boot lasts, at least in my opinion, it's quite subjective. I used to wear Planika boots, when changing, I tried Alpina Peak, they were too narrow. Scarpa, which according to all data I know has a narrow last, are OK for me, Ladakh model. Also have Scarpa Cinque Terre and Vento. Both OK. Yesterday for fun I tried Hanwag Ferrata Combi GTX and it was too narrow for me. So really don't know what these lasts are. Also have Lowa Renegade, high and low both OK.

Or maybe I have a weird foot nasmeh))

klm: do you maybe have some contact there or when they are open (no data on internet because renovating site...), don't want to drive there for nothing...

In Iglu I know they can order it for me but I'd have to order the size from memory (without having the boot on my foot, even though it's the same as S Evo...) and wait a couple of weeks...

Bizy: I already checked that, but the thing is I'd like to have the physical boot on my feet before ordering anything... don't want to mess up the size...

Yeah just hop down, don't know what's closer to you Udine or Pordenone. And what size do you have, they still have some sizes unless they're not exactly yours either.

Neither Sportler nor AlpStation have the Trango Alp model in my size anymore, but they have the Nepal Trek Evo model. Can someone tell me more about it?

It's basically the same boot as Nepal Evo Gtx, just with a notch for semi-automatic crampons. Ultimately, the weight is also in favor of Nepal Trek, which is a bit lighter, and it also has a slightly more recessed front sole, but you don't feel it when you put it on.

Here, got the Trango Alp boots at Sportler store in Udine. Thanks everyone for the help.

If anyone is interested by chance, they also have good discounts (-40%) on snowshoes, I got Salewa for 60 eur...

Please a little help! Can some expert advise me where to buy Asolo boots model Alpinist or Lhotse. There's no official representative here anymore, I found Asolo brand only in Intersport but the salesman assured me that they didn't order Alpinist this season anymore, they have more trek models. No problem to drive across the border (of course as close as possiblenasmeh)
