The winter room heats up because people are inside, not because of one candle. If you want to warm up, bring a stove, cook tea or soup (OUTSIDE), drink it hot and wrap yourself in a good sleeping bag. Heating the winter room with candles is "bye brains"zavijanje z očmi. Don't say, when it's survival, use anything. Candle romance do at homevelik nasmeh, not in winter rooms. Unless you want to burn a hut or someone sleeps forever up there.mežikanje

If you haven't bivvied yet, check the handbook.
A candle warms you plenty.

Bivy is not a winter room
one is survival, the other is silly nonsense
If someone is so cold, better stay home in a warm bed, turn off the central heating and light a candle.jezik

For decades in bivouacs and winter rooms at night before sleep, I always lit a candle and by its light with a headlamp prepared everything needed for the next day, then enjoyed the romantic candlelight before extinguishing it and soon after myself too, wrapped in a warm sleeping bag. In the morning I brewed tea, like a hot meal the evening before, of course in the shelter of the winter room or bivouac, outside often double-digit minus temperatures. Usually I first "burned" those half-burned candles already there, then continued with my own, which I gladly left for those coming after me. I went to the mountains also with GRS members, bivouacked with them, and believe it or not, they did the same as I. No bad conscience because there's nothing to have it for. Since I haven't said my last word in the winter mountains yet, in the future I will bring both a candle and a stove and gladly use both nasmeh

Sadly, bivouacs and winter rooms have lost their original purpose – shelter and survival. Today they have become equipped apartments (mostly for foreigners).
In a winter room or bivouacs, a wooden bunk bed, table and benches would suffice, without mattresses and other junk.
If a mountaineer decides in advance to spend the night, let him bring his own mat – pad, sleeping bag.., if caught by a storm, icy wind etc., he must anyway have change of clothes and season-appropriate clothing in his backpack.

Bah, waste of words... yeah that's argumentation... if they do it, then it's ok. Once is enough at the foundations. But since I've gone through the red light a thousand times without consequences, I'll keep doing it. I think argumentation at the level of a first-grader. I've ended this debate, waste of energy.

Yeah, Ex, you can bash your fingers with the ice axe too, but most still carry it in winter anyway.

Perfect conditions again. After a very long time no wind at all. Max -6 without wind. In Dec 2019 I was up 5x, you can see lots of snow blown away, especially below Cojzova hut. Snow was excellent for ice axes...

Yesterday's conditions were unique, i.e., weather and snow conditions. We started at 05:10 from the parking lot under Suhadolnik and actually reached Cojzova in the dark. No crampons needed until there. In the hut we changed, and just as we wanted to continue, dawn broke and for the next few minutes we snapped photos, catching the great sunrise.
From the hut the path steeply uphill is completely dry, on the plateau it is snowy, trodden and partly icy. Crampons on only below that traverse on the Jame. Hardest part soon after the traversed section when the slope steepens and does not ease until the plateau. Here any mistake in the form of a fall or slip can be fatal, as the crust is mostly very hard and partly icy.
A light, non-bothersome breeze was blowing, but not on the top.
Winter room OK, no candle was burning.
Up via the old path as over Taško is officially closed. The real extent of the destruction caused by last year's flood, starting in one of the gullies of Kalska gora, showed itself only on our descent. Water with debris overflowed the gully bed and poured frontally into the valley carrying everything before it. In a width of approx. 50 meters the undergrowth in the forest is covered with debris and rocks that the water brought during the flood. Concrete railings of the bridges were destroyed, passage under the bridges clogged with material. The authorities repaired the road so we could drive to the parking lot. Workers are still at work removing the consequences of the flood on the road and in the forest.

Up to Grintovec via SE ridge, snow hard, packed, partly icy, in upper part of the ridge one finds some kloža. Today the summit was deserted until about 10. If heading that way, early start will be the right choice, where sun rays and inversion do their thing. Good luck.

At the end of the ridge there is a barrier, but ice axes grip well so you can pull yourself over16
