Well, no need to argue. Since you mentioned Croats, would you dare claim that fewer people go to mountains there and more aware ones. That's the double-edged sword

No, it could be said without insults, couldn't it, you two gentlemen who apparently have nothing in common with Balkans by your opinion? But I have to tell you that such way of communication that you two used here some "Styrians" also call Balkan. Obviously Balkans extends to the west too. Currently all-Slovenian cleanup action "Clean Slovenian Mountains" is going on and I myself picked some trash in mountains in your areas. Did you two do that too??

I can't agree with that claim somehow. First because they have quite a lot of mountains, hills, elevations etc., second because "Mountaineering guide to Croatian mountains" by Željko Poljak has had I don't know which reprint, third reason is that I meet so many "Croats" in season on Julian Alps summits not speaking of Grintovec, fourth is that they buy a lot in our outdoor shops: Kibuba and Iglu sport. Simply they are proud of their "Natural and cultural heritage", many things are also on UNESCO world heritage list. They invest a lot in tourism and if so they must care for it. Only their economic policy is so messed up...similar with Slovaks. But there they have bit strict regimes (High Tatras), so some (Hey not all!!!) Czechs and Slovaks come to make mess here...

Mr. Šerpa. Above Kamnik there is a hillock like Donačka gora called Visoka špica. Forested ridge connects it to Kamnik castle and Tolsta gora. There is no trace of primeval forest, but all mentioned hills are more or less degraded. Due to careless care bark beetle destroyed majority of spruces that prevailed there. Consequence is that now due to systematic logging huge clearcuts are created. Therefore exclusively human factor is guilty. So much about that even on "Upper Carniolan" end it's not much better....

Klm, it seems a bit nonsensical to me to compare trash with bark beetle...

I agree, the comparison is a bit awkward, but ultimately, the appearance of bark beetles is also a consequence of human negligence... littering too.

wolphgang, you say you're half German..? Who's to blame?? Leave Styrians alone, otherwise I'm a Gorenjc, I don't like chauvinistic statements on this portal.

Today from gloomy gray past St. Donatus to the top to chill a bit, then to the hut for well-deserved beer. Path was dry, summit without a breath of wind and warm sunshine spoiled us for quite a bit of the path. Nice greetings! Lajči

In the afternoon I headed to Donačka Mountain after almost half-year break, hope to be regular guest again. On the ridge between east and west summit there is quite some leaves on the path complicating walking due to slips, caution needed which I ignored a bit and quickly slipped on leaves but no consequences except dirty pants. Path to Rudi's hut has settled nicely and shortcuts less now, praiseworthy.

Quite some time has passed since I last went to Donačka Mountain. Sadly, in April I had a rather serious leg injury and climbing is now harder for me. Left the car in Sv. Jurij and climbed past St. Donatus chapel on unmarked path to the top. Down to Rudi's hut and back to Sv. Jurij. Noticed that on part of path between Donatus and steep section over walls new markings appeared, but not classic but very pale gray... Shame that path is unmarked as it's really super! And yes! Zigzags on Frolich path are unique!

On a nice sunny day we set off from Sv. Jurij via the wire to the eastern and then to the central summit. Then on the standard path to Rudi's hut and past St. Donatus to the starting point. Path dry, light breeze on top, just watch out for the leaves. Lp.

Late afternoon with wife we did a circular tour Kupčinji Vrh via secured section of path to summit and descent past Rudi's hut. From summit our headlamps already helped, all leaves fallen so caution needed every step.

Today on Donačka strong wind blowing, but no obstacle for visiting Donačka. Glad there are more hikers visiting our Haloški Triglav.
