Let me share what I once heard somewhere about bears
"Bear expert" said the following (approximately):
Areas where bears roam are usually marked with signs "bear area", and media report if one appears somewhere. When hiking to those areas, best to tie a string with a bell around wrist or ankle, which with jingling alerts the bear to us and the beast retreats before encounter. Expert recommends stepping off path occasionally to check ground, as bears often make big mud piles (read shit). If we find one, poke with stick and see lots of seeds, since bears love forest berries.

But if we find a bell in the mud, then get away as fast as possible !!!

Oh, pikica1, no pleasant feelings when looking at fresh tracks, as it represents reality at that moment; rustles from bushes I'd ignore even if there were any. We took our steps confidently forward, without looking left and right into the forest. Definitely something else to see several-days-old tracks or even older. Then it's a look into the past and certainly less worrying. We sighed with relief when the tracks disappeared, but we didn't look anywhere. We returned via another path, as it was planned!

Yeah, must be pretty uncomfortable following a bear like that.
I have a book on animal tracks, and for the bear it says that when walking slowly it steps with hind paws into the tracks of the front ones  If I see right, you have that track in picture 2
