Hi, we''re visiting Maribor for one night and want to stay nearby (within 45 min driving) for a couple of nights in early September. We love to hike and are very fit. We are interested in seeing pristine mountains and forests. We don''t know what hikes are best or a good, simple place to stay that is near good hiking that will serve simple typical Slovenian breakfast and dinner. We have a car. we will be visiting other parts of Slovenia on this trip and want to stay West and North of Maribor for these two nights. Can anyone provide advice please (in English)? Many thanks! Kate from San Francisco

You can also visit Velika Planina (more info in English: It's around 1,5 hour driving from Maribor, but it's worth. nasmeh

You can also cross the Pohorje (in 2 days) from Maribor to Slovenj Gradec and then by bus (or train from Dravograd) back in Maribor. On that way you can see Sumik fall (Slap Šumik), Lovrenska lakes (Lovrenška jezera) and few ski centers.

If you are hiker, go to Kredarica house, definitly. Itˇs not so hard go hike therezavijanje z očmi. You can also wisit seven lakes in Triglav national park. From there you can see many diferent mountains, from Špik to Triglavnasmeh.Also, go to Velika planina. It is very nice place to go. Pokljuka is known by itˇs sport center and is traditional starting point to hike on Triglav. Of course you have to visit Trenta, Bovec, Tolmin or Kobarid (use these links---;
