Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra)

Chamois belongs to family of hollow horns. It grows to about 100 cm, usually to 80cm. It weighs about 30kg. It is recognized by its small and hooked horns and usually by its white beard. It lives just little above forest border. It lives pretty lower in winter time. Chamoises are very social animals which are active in the mornign and in the evening. They mate in in november and december. Female whelps 1-2 yougn ones which are on their feet after two hours. Chamoises are prey of volves and lynxes. Big number of them dies because of snow avalanches and scabies.
