Description:
We’ve been wanting to climb Gannet Peak Wyomings highest point for a while now. The peak possess a lot of challenges from weather, distance, and route finding to river crossings and possible climbing depending on which route you choose. In this episode we decided to attempt Gannet via Tourist Creek. The other route, Wells Creek, appears to be a more direct approach but depending on water levels can either be a breeze or require some climbing that has turned many groups back. So not wanting to risk a turn around we chose the route with more boulder hoping but less risk of getting turned around. It’s a long day no matter which route you choose with around 20 miles of trail and 20 miles of bushwhacking and boulder hoping. Physically I’m not worried but mentally I’m not sure I’m prepared for the beat down that is Gannet Peak.
