Description: In a document dated May 30, 1208, of the Gurk Bishop Walther von Vatz, Eberhardus de Liubneke, a ministerialis of the Archdiocese of Salzburg, is named as a witness. This is considered the oldest documentary reference to Leobenegg. In 1241, Count Hermann II of Ortenburg enfeoffed Raspo of Friesach with the estates at Leubenek. The Leubeneggers maintained close relations with the Millstatt Monastery. For example, Wolfhar of Leubenegg donated in 1318 estates in Lonkk near Kremsbrücken for the soul of his deceased father and his brother Alhart, who died as a monk at Millstatt.
