Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Kranj - East and follow the road towards Jezersko. At Zgornje Jezersko, just past the petrol station, you will see a road that branches off the main road to the right (towards Planšarsko jezero). The road then takes you past the lake and climbs steeply behind it for a short distance. Higher up, the road flattens out and loses its asphalt surface at the beginning of a large meadow. The dirt road is then followed to a marked large parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the macadam road following the signs "Češka koča, Ledine" and after about 15 minutes' walk you will reach the cargo cableway.
From the former parking lot at the cargo cableway, follow the signs Kranjska koča na Ledinah - through Žrelo. At first you walk through the forest for a short time, and then the path leads you to a grassy area partly covered with dwarf pines. Here the path turns slightly to the left and then ascends crosswise along the sparse dwarf pines, and later along the scree. This path leads to the first crossroads, where the path to Češka koča (Czech Hut) branches off to the right. The crossroads is marked by the inscription 'Češka koča' on a rock. After only a few dozen metres of ascent, we are back at the crossroads. This time, the Slovenian Trail branches off to the left into the wall. We continue slightly to the right and start climbing up a steep scree slope. This part of the trail may still have snowfields in late summer. In the upper part of the scree, the path from Češka hut (through Žrelo) joins us from the right. Here we continue left and soon enter a ravine called Žrelo. Due to the very high risk of falling rocks, it is compulsory to wear a helmet when climbing through the ravine.
In the gully, first climb cross-country along a steel track, followed by a short, very steep climb right upwards. The slightly downward curving rungs and the rappel are helpful. There is a left traverse on a slightly crumbly slope and then a climb up the gully alongside the steel cable. In the last part, the gully becomes a little steeper and, in addition to the rope, we are helped by a few wedges and crampons. Then, with the help of a few pegs, you exit the gully up to the left and the path becomes easier again.
After a few metres, the Slovenian trail joins us from the left and there is an easy climb up to Koča na Ledinah.
From the hut, continue left to the east in the direction of Ledinski vrh, Mrzla gora and Baba. The trail leads us in a few minutes to a crossroads, where we turn left to follow the signs "V. Baba'. The path then descends slightly and leads us under the Ledinski vrh (Ledinski Peak) walls. Here we turn left and the path becomes more difficult. Cross the steep slopes to the north along the steel cable, then turn slightly to the right and cross a wide ravine. Due to avalanches, snow may linger here well into the summer. The ascent along the steel road is a bit steeper again, and the path becomes more and more crumbly, which is why the use of a helmet is essential. The trail climbs a few more times to the east and north, and then there is a short descent into a wide gully between Ledinski vrh and Velika Baba. Climb out of the gully on the other side and then climb steep rock slabs to the north. The path is no longer crumbly at this point, but it is very steep and often wet. There is a short steep climb with the help of a few scrambles and then another climb along the rock slabs with the rare dwarf pines all the way to the crossroads where an easier path from Jezerski sedlo joins us from the right.
The path then becomes slightly less difficult and continues to climb northwards. Later, the path turns left and retreats down the steep cliffs to the west side of the mountain. The trail then crosses the western slopes to the north and turns right at the last part, followed by a short climb to a very scenic summit.
Starting point - Kranjska koča 2:00, Kranjska koča - Velika Baba 1:45.

Pozdrav.
