Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Kranj - East, then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When you arrive in Preddvor, leave the main road and continue driving to the left, then after a few 10 m, opposite the Jelovica company, continue to the right in the direction of the villages of Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and Lake Črnava. The road continues through the village of Hrib, above which you reach a crossroads where you continue straight on (Hotel Bor and Lake Črnava on the left, the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor on the right). There is a gentle climb of 100 m to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we follow it past a few more houses, then turn left in front of the Senior Citizens' Home onto a larger gravel parking area. b) From the Jesenice - Ljubljana motorway, take the Kranj - West exit and continue left at the first junction. Continue through the underpass under the motorway and then to the roundabout, from where you continue in the direction of Golnik. The road continues through the village of Mlaka at Kranj, and at the end of the village we turn right towards Srakovlje. We then drive through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we turn right towards Preddvor. At the end of Preddvor, just 10 m before the road joins the main road Zgornje Jezersko - Kranj, turn left towards the villages of Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and Lake Črnava. The road continues through the village of Hrib, above which you reach a crossroads where you continue straight on (Hotel Bor and Lake Črnava on the left, Preddvor Senior Citizens' Home on the right). There is a gentle climb of 100 m to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we follow it past a few more houses, then turn left in front of the Senior Citizens' Home onto a larger gravel parking area.
Path description:
At the start of the parking lot, take the footpath that goes up along the fence of the retirement home. The path climbs steeply through the wods and leads in less than 10 minutes to a crossroads at the shade of Josipina Turnograjska. If you continue to the right, it is only a few steps to the shade where there is a registration book and a few benches.
The path from the crossroads becomes sloping and soon leads to a dirt road where there are also signposts. Continue left along the road and follow it in a slight downhill to a larger crossroads, where the road leading from the parking lot near the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor joins us from the left and bypasses the Josipina Turnograjska Shadow House.
At the crossroads, bear right at cart track, where there are signs. After a short climb along the above-mentioned cart track, we are again at a crossroads, where we turn right. The left path goes to Novi grad. Follow the right path through the forest for a few minutes and then cross the dirt road that also leads to Jakoba. The trail continues to climb quite steeply through the forest for some time and crosses the dirt road a few more times. Higher up, the path becomes a bit more scenic and when we cross the dirt road for the last time, we also have a very nice view towards the Church of St James. We continue along the marked footpath all the way to a small saddle near the church where we also begin to open up a view to the north.
At the crossroads where there are signposts, we continue to the left and there is only a short climb to the church and the Iskra mountain hut on Jakob.
From the hut we return to the above-mentioned saddle where we take the footpath in the direction of Potoška gora and Javorjevem vrh. The trail begins to climb through the forest and after about 15 minutes leads to a marked crossroads.
Straight ahead the path leads to Javorov vrh, to the left is only a minute to the lookout point from where there is a very nice view towards Strožič, Cjanovca and Hudičev boršt. Here we turn right towards Potočka Gora. Follow the right path and it will lead you into a rare forest with some views. But the path soon goes back into dense forest. The path continues to climb moderately and leads us to the top, where a bench is placed (Potoška gora). Starting point - Jacob 1:15, Jacob - Potoška gora 45 minutes

Lep in ne predolg izlet s čudovitimi razgledi med potjo. Na vrhu je žig.

Potoška gora je super za ohladit (je dosti hladnejša od Jakoba). Potem, seveda, ko se človek na poti do nje dobro segreje

Vedno znova se rada vračam na Sveti Jakob in Potoško goro.Gre za nekaj urni izlet, ki vas ne utrudi preveč se pa prijetno razmigate.Oskrbniki koče so prijazni in ustržljivi zato je postanek pri njih prijetno doživetje.

Vzpon na Potoško goro je prijeten poldnevni izlet. Splača se iti do razgledišča nad Jakobom. Žig z vrha je v planinski postojanki Iskra na Jakobu.

Danes na Potoško, gor po varianti do vikendov, kjer je bil lansko leto požar, od vikendov mimo vzletišča za padalce pa strmo navzgor do vrha Potoške. Nazaj na Jakoba in po eni od variant do Senčnice in na parkirišče pri gradu Turn. Vzpon praktično do vrha konkretno blaten, spust do razgledišča nad Jakobom po snegu, naprej pa še kar pacavo. Ampak lušten izlet, s krasnim razgledom na Krvavec, Kalški greben, Grintovec in Kočno, proti Julijcem in ljubljanski kotlini pa bolj koprenasto.
