Strunjanski križ

Description of mountain:
Strunjanski križ is situated above Mesečev zaliv bay, from which there is a nice view towards the sea; on clear days, the view extends as far as Triglav.

"Folk tradition holds that a miracle occurred here on August 15, the day of the Assumption of Mary, many years ago. A fierce storm was raging and ships at sea would have easily sunk had the Virgin Mary not appeared on the cliff top above Mesečev zaliv. The sea immediately calmed, the storm abated, and the sailors were saved. The locals erected a cross in thanks, and to this day they tell of footprints and tears imprinted in the rock where Mary wept to save the sailors. For a long time afterward, passing ships honked in gratitude to Mary."
