Vrbovo - Ahac

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper motorway, take the Postojna exit and follow the road towards Rijeka and Ilirska Bistrica. At the end of Ilirska Bistrica turn left towards the villages Jasen, Vrbovo, Vrbica, Jablanica and Trpčane. Continue past the village of Jasen to the beginning of Vrbovo, where you turn left onto a parallel local road. There are no suitable parking places in the village.

Path description:
Continue through the village, passing the fire station, to the crossroads by the house with house No 37. Here, turn left and continue up the left-hand side of a small stream. After a short climb, we reach a crossroads where a road branches off to the right to a nearby church, and we continue to the left and start climbing crosswise, along what was originally still an asphalt road. Above the village, the asphalt ends, and we continue along the road, which for some time still offers beautiful views of the Rijeka valley and the Brkini mountains. Higher up, the road starts to turn more and more to the right and leads us to an unmarked crossroads, at which there is a wooden cross. From the cross, continue along the upper left-hand road, which turns into a forest, through which it then climbs crosswise. The way forward leads us past the quarry, whereupon we arrive at the next cross, where we join the marked path from Kozlek.
Here we continue sharp left to the east, following the initially less well-known logging trail. The path continues for some time on the gradually steeper logging trail, then turns slightly to the right and turns into a steep footpath. There is a relatively steep climb through the forest for a few minutes and the path leads to the top of Ahac.
