Koroška Bela - Potoška planina (via Spodnji rovti)

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Lipce (Jesenice East) and turn right, towards Jesenice. At the first traffic lights (Slovenski Javornik) turn right towards Lj. Follow the second traffic-lighted junction and turn left to go under the railway underpass. At the next smaller junction, turn right towards Koroška Bela. At the chapel on the left, follow the signs "Church, Hostages Park" and turn left. The road leads you higher up, around a double bend, into the centre of the village, where the chapel stands. From here, continue straight ahead to the bridge over the Bela stream on the right, which you cross, and continue straight ahead along the narrow road between the houses (the appearance of a courtyard). After the road has been laid a little higher, it leads to a small parking area under the slope on the left, at which you come across a marked path into the woods.

Path description:
After a few metres in the forest, take the logging trail, which turns left and climbs steeply uphill to a small well, where you take the second logging trail and turn right. The marked path leading eastwards climbs only intermittently at first, and only steepens a little after it turns left at a slightly higher level and briefly becomes stony. When the gentle slope subsides, continue right along a section of the unmarked path, which turns slightly left shortly afterwards, and at the same time opens up some views of the valley. A little higher up, the marked path turns slightly right, back into the forest, where it leads us eastwards for some time, following and following logging trail. As the path begins to take on the appearance of a forest road, we cross the Sevnik stream on the flat. Slightly higher up, after a left turn, there is a fork: first right - the path to Ajdno (marked), second right - continuation of the marked path towards Valvasor's house (marked), straight ahead - Spodnji Rovti (unmarked). Leave the marked path here and continue straight uphill, following logging trail along the stream on the left. When you reach the forest cart track, leave logging trail and head left towards the house you see there. Cross the stream in front of it on a small bridge and continue straight ahead for a few metres to a steel cable on the left. Here turn right at right angles, onto the grassy slope of the Lower Rovt, where a less obvious path leads uphill. In the beautiful, undulating meadows here, we now have a better view back towards the valley and the Julian Alps with every step we take. At the top of the open grassy slope, the path leads us back into the woods again, where, after crossing a stream, it turns slightly left at first and climbs more steeply. A little higher up, the path crosses a short cart track and then turns only slightly to the right, soon also leading to the southern edge of mountain pasture, where (if necessary) a grazing fence is crossed. From here, follow the path along the forest edge on the right for a short distance. Soon you will come out on the vast grassy slopes of Potoška planina, and a little higher up you will cross the grazing fence for the last time, and continue along the stream to the shepherd's hut at Potoška mountain pasture.
