Kamnica (bus station turn-off Urban) - Sveti Urban above Maribor

Access to the starting point:
a) From the road Maribor - Dravograd, in Kamnica, turn right at the traffic lights towards the centre of Kamnica (from the route of Dravograd turn left), then follow the road towards Spodnja Kungota. Before the end of Kamnica, you will see the red mountain signs for St. Urban on the left side of the road by the bus stop, pointing left onto a side road. There are no parking places at the starting point, so park somewhere else in a suitable place.
b) Take the roundabout Počehova, from which take the exit towards Lenart v Slov. gorice. It takes only a short time to get to Lenart, as the first junction on the right is in the direction of Zgornja Kungota and Dolnja Počehova. Before reaching the expressway towards Maribor, go once more in the direction of Zgornja Kungota. When you reach Lower Kungota, you will see signs for Kamnica, which will direct you to the left. Follow the slightly narrower road and initially climb some more. After a small pass we start to descend, and lower down we arrive in Kamnica. We pass through Kamnica to the bus stop, where we see the mountain signs for St. Urban. At the bus stop, the route described above begins, and we park somewhere else in a suitable place.

Path description:
From the bus stop, take the side road towards St Urbana. Continue along the narrow asphalt road, which leads past individual houses, and the asphalt soon ends. At a small macadam crossroads, turn right, and then you will come to a courtyard of a house, after which you will continue along cart track. The path ahead leads along cart track, which climbs moderately at first, and at the hunting observation post continues straight on to the narrower cart track, which soon turns to the left. From cart track bear right on a waymarked path which climbs steeply, and higher up return to cart track, which is reached near the lookout point by the ruined chapel.
Then follow the winding cart track, which crosses the slopes to the right, and after a few minutes reach a small ridge where you join the road.
Continue right, passing a house, and after the house start descending on an asphalt road. When you reach the forest, turn slightly right off the road onto a parallel mountain path and follow it down to a nearby crossroads.
From the crossroads, continue straight ahead and start climbing again. Continue past a few more houses and then the signs direct you to the right to cart track, which you follow to a chapel a few minutes away, where you return to the tarmac road.
Continue right, and at a nearby crossroads, turn slightly left onto the upper road (the lower road bypasses the summit where the Church of St Urban stands).
There is a short climb past a few houses to reach the Church of St Urban, which offers a fine view of Maribor and the surrounding hills.
